Same thing with Pruitt. We knew it was a multi-year rebuild. It sucks to see it play out in real time, but we just have to be patient and hope for maybe one nice upset win this year and maybe a 7-5 season next year. Year three we can either take a huge leap forward or another steady step forward (9-4) and be set up for a huge season in year four.

I hate it because we've been rebuilding for a decade, but that's the reality right now.

Only takes one class with some game changing athletes and the rest of the roster blends in. Reading too much into the first game against an experienced ranked team while we’re plugging current players into new schemes. 11 more games since they went away from a 1 game season.

I’m 24 so I don’t really remember the 90’s. My first real memories are of the ‘01 season. And I can attest with firsthand knowledge that people my age and younger do not expect Tennessee to be good or to be competitive. We’re largely a laughing stock in that demographic.

I’m a man, I’m 40 (just had to do it) I do remember those teams and it was great. Every week was must see tv. I want that for my kids. To see Tennessee great again. I think we have the staff and leadership in place to do it it’s just going to take time. You can’t half *** the weight room for 3 years, workout hard for 8 months and expect to be an SEC caliber athlete when the season starts. The right attitude is coaching the team and Pruitt will change it for the better.

I doubt we see much of that unless they run an actual QB keeper. A bit more pocket mobility, maybe...I think at this point Helton is still trying to wash the stank of misuse off him and just wants him to remember his roots and get rid of it safely, if needed.

McBride is our only true DT QB.

Saban lost to ULM at home...late in the season. Not as a brand new coach, but as a NC winning coach. Let that sink in while you are cutting yourself over a neutral site loss to a ranked team with a hot shot 5th year senior QB...with the remnants of Butch's final disaster.

This game reminds me of the first game last year. There were terrible over reactions to it and I was guilty of it. I convinced myself we would be fine because Dormady played well in the second half. We clearly weren't. Now, v we have people convinced we suck just as bad because of what happened in our opening game. It was very bad yesterday and I am disappointed in the defense. I do refuse to check out after one game. We have a long way to go. Not sure we get there this year. But. I am going to enjoy the next 11 games because watching football is fun. I love it. Life is just too short to be miserable all the damned time. GBO

He also skull-drug a 10-4 Tennessee squad. Pruitt has to do the same to a similar opponent this year if we’re going to Sabanize him.

I took a half day hiatus but my Twitter is littered with angry Vol fans calling for Pruitt’s head. This was so predictable after the Schianomo last fall.

The last thing that needs to change before we can get back is for the stupid, complaining fans who can’t handle a rebuild to just go away and quit following the team.

If you hate watching us lose then just quit watching.

There are going to be plenty of losses between now and November.

We will be 2-6 by then. You can take that to the bank.

Deal with it.

you need to follow people who aren't idiots. I have seen zero calls for firing Pruitt or him being on any sort of hot seat. because he ain't.

I've been wondering the same thing. Ranking-wise, our recruiting over the last several years has been good but we seem to lag behind a majority of the conference talent-wise.

We seriously had fans on twitter calling for Pruitt’s head after his 1st game??? Lol!! We have some idiots as fans. Smh
