Alright, well I updated the game thread with a look back at the original keys to victory and how we measured up, so you can see that if you'd like, but here are some other points on the game.
1. Speed: WV was shockingly faster than us. From their DL to the WR's... they were a step ahead all night. Flowers was caught flat footed a couple of times, and the defensive backs were no where close to being good enough, even if they were facing studs.
2. Grier: Easy to be upset with what he did against us, but remember, he's on the Heisman shortlist, as the commentators let us know 12,304 times. We couldn't generate pressure, which i thought would be our biggest issue, and he showed that laser accuracy often (missing a few), but oh... some of those passes were tight. It is the worst a QB will make us look all season.
3. 3-3-5: Their defense gave our OL fits, and I frankly expected better. I'm not sure if they changed their defense a lot from what they have shown before, but the OL were confused often.
4. Tim Jordan: Boys... we've got a running back. Chandler probably has a concussion from that knee to the head, but Jordan's performance made him the head of the committee. I look for big things from him this year.
5. JG: Looked really sharp.
6. Offensive playcalling: I'm not sure we've seen what Helton wants to do yet. I've heard the 3-3-5 defense requires a lot of different scheming, similar to facing a cut blocking option team. The OL shortcomings forced Helton into a short range passing game, which was really effective when our WR's began to get separation. We couldn't get enough time to throw it deep that often, but I did not see much that I didn't like. More TE involvement would have been nice, but they were needed to for blocking.
