My by unit rankings go as follows:
QB - JG didnt turn the ball over and had a solid day throwing despite OL issues. Chryst had four really solid hand offs. Good for him.
RB - This and QB are close. RB did great despite losing a main contributor and the OL not being as demanding as possible.
WR - Some good routes and catches. JG didn't have the best protection to get them the ball more than he did.
OL - Jesus christ... they had some TERRIBLE REPS but also had some good ones and some great drives. build on those and we may be ok.
TE - Did they play much today? definitely missed our TE Seam for a TD... wtf is that?
LB - leading tackler had 4 and seemed surprising because it seemed they were involved much. maybe that's a wvu scheme product.
DB - green. showed it got burned. but also wasnt placed in the best situations at times due to the next and last ranked unit on the list.
DL - charge these boys for a game ticket and give them a lawn chair. Grier would have done worse against air. Shy Tuttle is the only moderately lit spot. everyone else needs to spend 4 times as much time watching the crap they put on film and fixing it.

Offense grade: C.
They showed some moments. need consistency and no turnovers.
Defensive grade: D-
Had a good first half and atrocious second half. Created one turnover but didnt have a shot at any others.
Special Teams: B
Gave up a couple decent returns but did well.

I know everyone’s bummed, and I am too, but the learning curve IS a real thing. Hopefully now the coaches and players have a better sense of what has to happen and how to get there. It was cool to see Pruitt own up to his own mistakes. And there were flashes of a team that can be decent.

My randoms:

I was way up in the stands, but it seemed like Alexis Johnson played relatively well.
Tim Jordan looks to be a very good back. Violent runner. Excited to have him for this year and at least next year. Him and Chandler could be a solid 1-2 punch.
Will be a bumpy road, but think of how seasoned and Flowers and Taylor will be as sophmores and juniors.
Carvin is better than his ranking.

I'm adjusting my views for this season. Really thought we could win 9 games (see custom user title). Shooting for 6... maybe 7 this year. But ultimately I just want to get that bowl game and all the extra practice/growth it allows a team. If we can accomplish that, while also playing as many young guys as we are, I think we'll remain a very appealing program for recruits.

our worst unit in terms of experience is the secondary. It showed last night but it was in high demand. Against Florida it will not be and our LBers will be on the field more often. this game doesnt reflect the product we see vs Florida. let's get our fundamentals right and remind the freshman safety when I give 15 yards to a wr, you shouldnt get beat deep.

Tim Jordan is the next star here. Whole offense looks really good if the OL puts it together.

Next two weeks will be enjoyable domination, then we will get a look at progress against Florida. Still a winnable game, but they don’t have the mindset yet, according to Pruitt

Is Kongbo a full blown bust? Really thought his issue was coaching/scheme and expected him to flourish under Pruitt. I’m a big fan of his but it seems he continually under performs.

Wasn't he a three star? I seem to remember when he showed up everyone was surprised by his physique and power.

definitely a full blown "Chris Donald" bust. Another case of a JC miss. Hopefully DWA and JJ will not fall into this category.

We got hosed on a couple calls too..that crack back block in 1st qtr was one. Doing nothing with first possession, then giving them a FG right before half killed us. Last but not least, that turnover on downs in 4th. It was just a bad matchup all around for us, having to play 3 frosh in secondary against Grier and Sills. It is likely that we are not this bad, and they aren't that good as the final score indicated.

There were a couple of posts where the olineman literally was playing tug of war with Darrell Taylor's arm and holding still want called

I have to compliment WVU’s OC real quick. Someone needs to hire him quick.



This play design is beautiful. They use a motion WR to chip our blitzing corner. That was his only job on that play.

Flowers absolutely cannot let Sills by him there, it’s ok to give him the comeback which is what he thought was coming. But never let the wr behind you when you are the deep single high. He will learn. You don’t see that in high school lol

I hate it But damn that was beautiful.

Chandler will feast on those toss sweeps. Jordan's patience running the ball is why he's so good. Madre looks like he'll get the tough yards. I'm really excited about the RB group. Oline is not as bad as everyone is saying they are. When they started jelling in the second and in the fourth they were near unstoppable. I have no answers on D. Less cornerback blitzes is my greatest guess because Grier attacked that side every time there was a CB blitz. Need more stunts probably.

I can't find the Jeremy Pruitt show. Is it being shown in Knoxville but not on Fox anymore?
