West Va is better than I thought and we aren't as ready as I thought. Their grad transfers were huge today. The scariest part for me is I can't really sit here and say if he made a better call then it changes. It was a player deal today. The players had no natural energy. It was just weird. Abernathy is hot garbage no matter the coach. Our front 7 is weak. Our secondary will get better as the freshman get more reps. Buchanon is stil meh

There were really no "givens" today. The team just had to show up and see where things went. Jordan gaining a hundred and JG getting the ball down field let the team know there's something to build on. Hope there's enough spark there to get something going for the season.

agree, so at this point with the next two games, heck, put in Fils-Aime and Byrd and see if they can do any better. Extremely disappointed in the secondary today... no fight, no aggressiveness...

Here’s the thing. We have a young secondary. Going to be some bumps and bruises but 2 years from now they may be dominant. I’ll take my lumps now. Still hoping for 7-5. JG played well. Running game looked pretty good. WV after watching them is right there with Bama, Uga, and Auburn as our toughest games. They have a good team.

All 3 teams would abuse WV. WV isn’t tough enough to match up with them. Bama would turn Grier into a 13-34, 0 TD, 2 INT quarterback.

Watching you guys try to lay blame on the last coach for that beat down is normal I guess . Dumb , but normal . So , do you guys think the next 5 practices are going to change what the 25 in spring and the 25 in fall did not ?

You realize a Grierless 7 win WV team in 2014 only lost to a Bama team who went to the playoffs by 10 points right? I would take Bama to win but qb matters a whole lot in college football. WV will be by seasons end in the top 4 of teams we’ve played like I said with Bama, UGa, and Auburn. The other 8 are not on the same level

Again, if Bama were to beat them it doesn’t change the fact that along with Auburn and UGa those will be our toughest games. The other 8 will be much easier/closer.

I think offensively they're better. I think JG is much improved. I think the defense is about the same despite having some injured players back. That surprised me a bit.

Why is it dumb, weren't those his players on the field today that he has coached and failed to develop? So yeah, I am putting a lot of the blame on the last coaching staff...

Gray wasn’t a 5 star. But the last staff did seem to struggle recruiting good players in the secondary. Gaulden would have helped though.

I think they recruited ok on offense- just didn’t develop them last year.

We need to fix scheduling. Shouldn’t have played them for our first game with a new coach. I will also believe the UF game should be later in the season.
