Pruitt needs to do what Butch never could do and that’s develop his talent.

If he can do that, next year we should see a nice jump. Gonna be bringing back a ton and have 1.5 years under this staff for improvement.

Same with DBs. Our Oline surprised me as the game went on. As newcomers like Carvin, Kennedy, and Johnson get more comfortable I think they’ll be a decent (not great, but decent) unit.

I understand that the Oline looked lost at time, especially Kennedy and also Smith with the two ill-timed flags. But also you have to consider, this is the first time these kids have received good coaching and are being taught proper technique, both offensively and defensively.

They came alive in the second quarter. They actually looked pretty good at times. They moved the ball, threw the ball DOWN FIELD, and opened up some good running lanes.

I thought the play calling was actually pretty good for the most part. They are going to have growing pains also, it’s part of the game.

Even the upper classmen are finally being taught these things, so it’s going to take time. And it’s going to help when you actually have the Horses to run in the Race.

We just don’t have the talent depth that is going to be required to compete with bigger programs at this Point. Yes, we have some talent but it dramatically drops off in the two and three deep.

Just have to be patient and hope they continue to progress and accept what the coaches are teaching them. Cause from what I seen today, we actually looked decent after the first quarter. If the Lightning hadn’t drained our MO, think it would have been closer than what it was.

So that’s my observations.

Agreed. A couple thoughts on the game though

I thought JG looked pretty good. I liked some of the concepts on O. I thought Tim Jordan looked really good, like the kind of guy you can build an offense around.

We have got to find a way to get pressure on the QB. WVU just matched up well against us and Grier made some big throws in the second half. I feel the D was probably feeling pretty good during the first half but he delay at half just had me worried that WVU would have a better chance with the longer time to recover. It seems my concerns were legit.

Pretty close to the perfect storm for our defense today IMO. Dealing with Grier is bad enough but with a young secondary and a nonexistent pash rush it was only a matter of time for those WRs to take advantage. Haven’t seen much talk about them, but every single one of them was legit, Jennings, Sills, Simms and the TE. Combine that with poor tackling, I think we should have seen this one coming today. Hope to see a lot of improvement as the season goes along.

Watching you guys try to lay blame on the last coach for that beat down is normal I guess . Dumb , but normal . So , do you guys think the next 5 practices are going to change what the 25 in spring and the 25 in fall did not ?

Ole Miss might be the only team with better receivers. They are legit.

Our talent is not what I thought it was. We will improve but we have to upgrade our roster. The team did not quit and JG looked much better. Jordan ran well. Our D got more aggressive in the second half and we got burned. Grier is really good. Our defense was bad. No way to spin it. We will get better but it might not be good enough to win 6. I'm disappointed in the defense but have faith we will improve. Florida will be tough to win. We obviously really need it. I'm a little down but still think we have hired the right guy. GBO

Everyone should be ashamed. Bruin shows up as the voice of reason. Everyone here massively over reacting.
