I was not expecting 40-14. I don’t think many of us were. Saw some flashes, but overall nowhere near ready to play with big boys.

No better, I'd say if you go back a year, we're worse than we were 12 months ago. Still had stupid penalties in costly situations. Still out of position on defense. Still lost on offense against a putrid West Virginia defense. West Virginia didn't have this good a defensive game all season last year, even against FCS teams.

Maybe because it's still the same team as last year. We didnt just magically draft a whole new team.

Coverage (and I know this will make folks chuckle) wasn't that bad. Some really good throws.

What was really, really bad was the lack of pass rush. And Tennessee sure as heck tried. I saw standard 4 man rush. I saw stunts. I saw LB blitzes. I saw CB blitzes. I saw safety blitzes.

That was the big problem.

Our db's made it look too easy. Warrior kept trying to tackle high and getting drug 4yrds per tackle, no pressure up front to help the back end, all those guys in the front 7 that were bright spots last year just disappeared like Bituli, Taylor, Shy, Phillips etc, and the O-line was bad. Kennedy was horrendous. Not everything was the same as last year but bad nonetheless.

With all that said, it was game one. WV may be a top team, may not be but too early to tell. A bunch of rookies on our staff taking over a 4-8 team and installing brand new schemes. It should be obvious that it will not be a smooth and quick climb up. Alot of fans seemed to think it would be for some reason but that's not reasonable at all.

It is sad to know all that 4* and 5* talent hasn't shown up yet and that the one aspect our HC is known for looked so bad. Wether Pruitt is the one or not, it will take time. Till then we will look no better or not much better than last season.

Harsh reality for us. We are a 5/6 win team. We just folded to a big 12 team on offense. The SEC will be much better as a whole on defense. We don’t have the jimmys and jos to compete on a top level. Expectations should be beat UF and Vandy and maybe we get a break and beat UF, Mizzou, Sc. We are dreadfully slow on defense. Expect more of the same over the top this season

Right now, no. Let's see what it looks like after game 12, though not sure how you improve the defensive front 7.

I didn't expect a miracle from Pruitt, but I at least expected him to make us reasonably competitive. What an atrocious display that was! We looked despicable on defense and the only reason we scored was because West Virginia is a bad defensive team. We'all be lucky to win 4 games! 😡

Agree. Gonna be at least 2 more years. The overwhelming majority of players remaining from the Jones era have too much scar tissue and can’t be salvaged. The sooner the roster is turned over with JPs players the better. Hopefully by mid season we see guys like Kongbo and Abernathy replaced with better, more talented younger players JP has already brought in.

No. We just have overrated players. Weren’t ready to play from KO. Very disappointing.

We earned it tonight. This year will be no different then last years team. Only we didn't luck out and win the opener.

Is there any more reason after game 1 of this staff to believe than there was after game 1 of Kiffin, Dooley, or Jones?
