A lot of people in here were high on Brohm when it came out that Currie "may" have been in conversations with him. I read a couple of articles about his offensive mind, his offense and how cutting edge it was I was pretty excited at the thought of him possibly coming to Rocky Top. After watching his offense for the first time last night I kind of feel good that we did not get him. Although his offense may be "cutting edge", what I observed was a very gimmicky offense that wouldn't hold up against SEC defenses. The O-Line rarely exploded off the ball "Butch-esque" and there was little resemblance of a run game (yes they ran for 200+ yards but most of that was on jet sweeps, back passes, etc.). It kind of appeared to be more working version of the Butch Jones style offense which is kind of what I think most of us were wanting to get away from. Also their defense looked very pedestrian.

I could eat little crow on this if we see Tyson Helton deploy a similar offense but I don't believe that will be the case and we have a national championship DC calling the defense. I think we wound up with a much better situation.

I was actually really really excited for Dooley last year.

We had elite tier talent on offense. The best since the 90s maybe ever if our RBs were a little better.

Sal was a question but i had hopes for him.
Figured we would at least be decent.

I still contend that’s the best team I’ve ever seen just totally implode

With temperatures expected to be around 90 degrees at kickoff and the heat index higher, playing more players is a must. The question is up front how many does Pruitt and Tracy Rocker trust? Will be interesting to watch for sure, but against WVU’s spread scheme, the Vols will likely be in sub-packages more, allowing Kongbo and Taylor to help up front.”

Who would’ve thought 8-9 months ago that we would potentially have 9 guys ready to go on the OL

You have to remember it’s only his 2nd year and how bad Purdue was before he got there. They were god awful. If you watch the offense and it’s concepts it’s actually very similar to what Oklahoma does with Lincoln Riley.

Our offense will have some similarities. Screens and sweeps will be an extension of our run game.

I agree man. His offense is so creative. People forget how terrible Purdue was before him. Wouldn’t shock me if he is at Kentucky next year.

Darrin Kirkland is healthy according to Pruitt and capable of playing a whole game. All eyes will be on him and how well he moves on the knee. In the backend, we expect Alontae Taylor to start at corner along with Baylen Buchanan. But look for Bryce Thompson to get real snaps at corner as well. Thompson, who's offseason focus will be on getting stronger and bigger for 2019, has continued to emerge throughout the preseason and has shown lots of growth the last couple of week. That takes us to Treyvon Flowers, who will also play a lot and has made an increasing number of plays on the practice field.
