I saw something earlier on social media that congratulated the new UT Volleyball coach for being the first coach of ANY sport to beat a ranked opponent in their debut game as a UT head coach. If Pruitt pulls off the win, it will still be the first time for a football coach. Just not of any sport. Still, could you imagine the hype Pruitt would get when people took off with that if we won?

Side note: Congrats Lady Vols Volleyball and new coach Eve Rackham for beating #22 Michigan State!

Having been born in 1950 and, since my dad and uncle took me to Neyland to watch our Vols beat ???, my perception of UT football, since then, was that they'd win every game...regardless of the opponent. That lasted just into this 21st century, about the time my old classmate Phil's teams sort of self-destructed. I no longer hope we'll win...I believe...thanks to what I've perceived. Does that matter? Not at all unless these young athletes believe it as well. I believe they do. Let's enjoy this historic victory by these believers. GBO!

Loved your post SOV. You have about 5 years on me but growing up in S Knoxville, among my fondest memories in addition to my first games in Neyland as a vendor (Cold DRINKS!), every Sunday morning during football season, after carrying my paper route I would plop down with the sports section of the KNS and devour every detail about the previous day's game and I was especially fond of the Dyer-gram (Bill Dyer's graphic down-by-down illustration of the game). Tennessee rarely lost in those years!

This off-season has been historic. One dismissal, no transfers after the coaching change(pretty much unheard of), injury free going into the 1st game, the entire recruiting class made it in, and no stupid ass slogans that get the program roasted. CJP did everything right in his first off-season as a head coach. Bravo to him.
