Truth. We all know WV is and, probably, maybe(?), should be favored...if we don't, we can always ask you, and you'll be glad to tell us.
I'll explain it like this, and yes, this is my opinion; but, I believe, maybe I'm wrong, most would agree with me...
Defense:
Jonathan Kongbo, Darrell Taylor, Kyle Phillips, Shy Tuttle, Quart'e Sapp, Daniel Bituli, Darren Kirkland Jr, Todd Kelly Jr, Nigel Warrior, Alontae Taylor, and Bryce Thompson are ALL better than anyone or anything WV has. Half of those guys would have already been in the NFL by now if they had chosen to play for anyone other than Butch Jones; no way you're going to ever convince me that Jonathan Kongbo isnt an All American if he's at Bama or UGA or Clemson, Phillips too, Bituli too, Warrior, too, and I could go on. Whether they do it or not, I believe they will, that talent I just mentioned is not only good enough to beat WV, but shut them down. The ONLY reason some doesn't see that, doesn't know that, is all because of 2 things, Butch Jones and HIS 4-8, 0-8...the ONLY reason.
Offense:
Trey Smith is the best OLman in the country. Nothing else to be said.
We have 3 to 5 more across our OL that were considered high 4 to 5 star coming out. Again, you'll NEVER convince me that they ALL are busts, it's actually laughable for someone to even consider that. We had a freaking GRADUATE ASSISTANT coaching our OL last year, wake up, dude!
Ty Chandler could have went anywhere he wanted to go, period
Madre London has played in a great rushing attack, and Jeremy Banks was wanted by Scott Frost, all I need to know.
Jauan Jennings is a 6'3, 220 pound dog, that could play 3 or 4 other positions, and is the best football player on the field whenever he is on it. Again, the only reason some do not see it, know it, is because the kid chose to play for Butch Jones.
And JG...idk what the kid is or isn't...I do know that he has a MUCH BETTER QB coach and OC now, and was wanted by your hero, Urban Meyer.
Butch did recruit All Americans and All SEC players, he just didn't know how to coach them in the SEC; in fact, besides the academics, that is ALL he did, EVERYTHING ELSE suffered. And again, 4-8, 0-8 is all anyone thinks of...it is why people are sleeping on the talent we really, truly have. And last, Jeremy Pruitt...idk if I was THIS confident in Phil, if I'm just being honest.
It's a gut punch, but Tennessee is no longer viewed as a major program anymore nationally. Viewed as a second tier program.Ahhhh Gameday is back... talking about new coaches at major programs and not even a sniff of Pruitt and TN.... my, my how far we've fallen... Even big deal on Frost and Moorhead at MsSt... Saying long term Taggart has the best chance at success... well, F gameday boys!
Heard this on a podcast and thought it was interesting:
If you could pick Two current nfl players (one offense and one defense *no QBs*) to have on your college team this year, who would you pick?
Defense: Aaron Donald/ healthy jj watt.
Offense was hard but i would go Antonio brown or gronk.

The biggest jumps can be made from underdeveloped players though. Like someone who just started lifting will improve much faster at first then plateau somewhat into more steady progress. We would seem to be in that early stage of development in some ways so making huge strides wouldn't be far fetched.I get the upperclassmen thing, but you usually see a big jump from upperclassmen who’ve had a couple years of consistent development. Our guys haven’t had that. And there just haven’t been enough flashes from those guys up front as a whole to assume they’ll look like a whole new unit this season. I’m sure we’ll see somebody take a big step, but I just don’t see them all making a huge leap.
They were not impressive in the spring game going against an OL that had 2-3 guys who will be second string for us this year. None of our guys were particularly impressive in 2016 or 2017. Many have histories of injuries. And depth, at least going into week 1, is a huge question mark
I just think people who are assuming 9-10 months of coaching will result in everyone of those guys maximizing their full potential week one are setting themselves up for disappointment. They still haven’t played one game with our new staff. It’s still a process and they’re not gonna get where we need them to be until they’ve been through a couple weeks of games and game prep with the new staff, IMO.
