I think most people are just saying if these questions have good answers then we will be in good shape. But for most its getting easier to imagine these things going our way so confidence and excitement is building. I'm all for it. I don't believe in hiding from disappointment by lowering expectations. You can probably tell that by the fact that my expectations have been this high since before spring practice. I'm am well aware of all the questions and understand the skepticism and doubts. I just expect more things to go our way than they have recently. I don't think its unrealistic either. Jmo
This.

Hank ! That one made me spit out precious beer
Dog, I know that "precious beer" of yours is orange flavored. Take, drink, be merry, if not. GBO! I'm so fired up, I think I'm going to form tackle the next person I see...yep...going to form tackle the next person I see, I've decided!

What does every married man say once every month?

I'll take "Things Men Say That Get Them In Trouble" for $800 Alex.
Daily Double. Since you have no money you cannot wager.
This will get you slapped and a month on the couch if you use this phrase while commenting on her dress.

but they dont

Every time they try to "fix" something that they have already messed up this badly, it only makes them look worse. I doubt the apology had any kind of empathy or credibility. He is just doing what he is told he absolutely has to while the admin closes their eyes tightly and hopes it all goes away.

the tOSU president obviously saw the almost universal backlash in the media to that poorly handled press conference, and how completely un-remorseful Meyer came across. This probably won't go away as quietly as they would hope as I suspect this will be brought up by announcers during every Buckeye game all season. And cwould damage their recruiting. I hope.

And there is no reason to assume that they won't. And no, I don't believe anything I said was contradictory. I truly believe that none of our players is the same player they have been, no way.
I truly believe that each one of them has gotten better the moment they started being coached by this staff, as opposed to the last staff; if only in just a small way, they're better, and not the same. Different and better in physicality, technique, scheme, practice, attitude, culture, everything. I choose to believe that NOTHING is the same, and that ALL is better, including the pass rush.
You’re entitled to believe whatever you want, but it won’t change reality.

Those statements contradicted one another and it’s extremely unlikely that our DL was only one offseasonaway from being beasts.

Have you seen any practices, DS? You may have, idk, I'm just curious? If you have, then I admit, you know better than I about what they actually look like...

You can laugh all you want...fools are often depicted that way, laughing.
Why don't you and I make a little wager then...you take WV, and i take UT, straight up? We all know how much you like WV, and them being favored, you've brought it up enough times. So...like them.
I can tell you what I do know, Chief...majority of us either think you're an arrogant, dirty troll, or you're the absolute worst Big Orange fan in the history of Big Orange fans...and like I've said before, and you had no comment for, no Big Orange fan I know would ever talk about Joe Namath over Peyton Manning, when discussing our next great QB.
Let me know about the wager...
Yeah, leaning towards West Virginia in a competitive ball game.

You seem to be living in a bit of a fantasy world. I'm gonna go with he knows better than you about what the team looks like.

And I'll live there all my life before I name myself Chief Vol, and bring to this board the flaming heap of garbage that you leave.
And you go ahead and go with whoever; the day you start agreeing with the things I say, is the day I start reevaluating my fandom of UT athletics, anyway.

I usually try not to harp on things but I’ve posted this a couple of times now and I figure almost if not everyone already knew it. The number one priority of a coach is to get his players to believe in themselves. I think this is the biggest difference between this staff and the prior regime. We know our lack of performance in years past was due to the exotic schemes of our opponents or the lack of air travel experience by a significant portion of our roster or some other equally bizarre rationalization.

Ainge said a couple weeks ago that our top 10 players could play for anybody in the country but our issue was the next 30 that gets us to our top 40. There we’re limited but we’re not as limited the same against everybody. At least around 30 of our guys are better than 30 of the guys in WVU’s top 40.

In the Pruitt mic’d up video posted a few days ago he ended practice by calling everyone to huddle and attitude on 3. We’ve seen excerpts of speakers that have been brought in to address the way we think. The former guys may have done the same thing but when you go before the press and start making preemptive excuses before a game it sort of destroys the mental foundation you may have been trying to establish.

I don’t think it matters whether or not we win the game against WVU. I think it matters how we perform, consistently, mentally and physically. Yesterday, it was posted that CJP had been telling big money boosters or somebody of import that not only were we going to win the game but we would cover the spread. Okay, but the cover the spread is technically irrelevant because since the spread isn’t in our favor we have to by default cover the spread in order to win the game. This is like Yogi Berra saying the game is 90% mental and the other half is physical.

One of the sentiments that some of the guys that have moved on expressed regarding the qualities we should look for in a new coach was honesty. My impression of what we get with our new staff are among other things honesty and accountability. Another quality is credibility.

I think WVU is a good football team and it’s likely if we had the same staff as last year and the same locker room attitude of last year WVU might not have any problem covering the spread next Saturday. We don’t have the same staff and I think the limited number of our players that will play in this game honestly believe we will win this game perhaps in large measure because that is what their coaches honestly believe.

As I said we may not win this game but we need to believe we can win this game and if we further believe we will win this game then the probabilities of us finding a way to win are significantly higher. Attitude leads effort and I think that is the biggest difference in this year’s team versus last year’s team. It starts with the coaches. My guess is that in the face of significant adversity the guys who play if they stumble in regards to their faith in themselves they will default to their faith in our coaches, an asset arguably unavailable to them last year. Jmo.

Anybody notice this from practice reports? Left side of the line would be fun to run behind.

Chance Hall looked to be getting significant work at left guard, while Riley Locklear worked at right guard. Ryan Johnson continues to get work at center with Kennedy a little limited. It looks like left guard might be the most unsettled position on the offensive line a week out from the opener.

My god. Give me a beer bong full of that glorious orange kool-aid
I'm drinkin it and let me tell you:

Gentlemen, I don't find it easy to talk at a time like this, but I got to say something about that team up there, and I can sum it all up in just one word: courage...dedication, daring, pride, pluck, spirit, grit, mettle, and G-U-T-S, *guts*. Why, the team's got more guts in their little finger's than most of us have in our large intestine, including the colon.

Tennessee has a shot in this game, but y’all are hammering the wrong pedal on that curve.

Haha. Agreed! The number of posters that will switch after a loss to foaming and moaning and telling us why Pruitt ain’t the guy is growing.

For my part, I’ve learned to take negative press perceptions of our team/talent and adverse betting lines of ~10 seriously.
