Nine days out from the opener, Tennessee is officially in game week mode for West Virginia.

The Vols shed the full pads Thursday, and were going through a lighter practice. They’ll have two more workouts over the next two days before taking Sunday off.

The media saw just a single period of practice today, so there’s not much to report.

A couple bullet point highlights…

*** Brandon Kennedy was again working with the S&C staff off to the side. The move looks precautionary, with Kennedy perhaps receiving a couple maintenance days at the end of camp. Notably, linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. was not working in the pit Thursday.

*** The Vols shuffling continued, but with Kennedy sidelined, Chance Hall saw some work at left guard today as Ryan Johnson shifted over to center. Trey Smith look initial reps at left tackle before flipping with Drew Richmond.

*** With school in session, the rosters have expanded with lots of new walk-ons now, so Tennessee is practicing with nearly 120 guys. For the first time in camp, we saw scout team jerseys — with lots of scholarship players donning the black shirts. Notables included DL Matthew Butler, WRs Latrell Willams, Maleik Gray and Jacquez Jones, TEs Jacob Warren and Princeton Fant and OL Ollie Lane.

BB didn’t leave because UT didn’t recruit Woodi.

He left or stopped posting as much because of how posters were treating him.
I always appreciated his opinion and football knowledge but to be fair he brought a lot of that on himself. He could have presented his opinions with a little less arrogance.

He gave as much or more than he got. He is just like the barber. He hates being called out on his agenda when he says something asinine.

I fully believe teams take on the attitude of their head coaches. I believe our team is confident because Pruitt it is a confident guy. No more analytics and playing tight with Butch Jones

Players are much more confident.
Warrior specifically says he plays more by instinct instead of thinking.
Huge buy in from players into the plans for success put out by coaches.
Doesn’t seem like a team coming off of a losing season.

So, talked to Jeff Hall today. Still wears his NC ring, thought that was kinda cool.

At least he didn't pawn it like some.

That is pretty cool but I'm not one that's gonna dog someone who is forced to pawn something valuable if life gives them an uppercut. Just saying, we don't always know the full story or the heartbreak behind why something like that happens.

I agree. But Jeff said shortly after his attempt at the NFL, he was borrowing money from his parents (not wealthy parents) just to eat. Respect him holding on to it like that.

It is dumb to sell something priceless like that, unless it really just means nothing to you. What do you sell next week when things get tough? Now on the other hand I can understand pawning it with the intention of paying back the loan and getting it back and then things just going sideways.

We have been in a severe financial mess for the last year since I lost my job, and it has been really tempting at times to pawn the very valuable sentimental jewelry we have...but we didn't, and made up our minds we were never going to.

When I was in my twenties I did that one time and lost a personalized ruby masonic ring that belonged to my grandfather...I have no idea what seemed so important at the time, probably one months rent or utility bill on a place I ended up losing anyway, but that is one of my biggest regrets in life...it was stupid.

Unlike the barber, I actually liked Breakerboy, but we went at it a few times and he probably didn't think so. I think he was a good guy, and had some interesting opinions and info sometimes.

I know what you're saying but man, we all do stupid things we regret. I'm as guilty as anyone. That's why I just feel like the best way to deal with it is to share stories much like you just did to prevent the younger generation from repeating the same mistake that we made. Some will obviously but at least a few will listen to us and we can say we tried.

The older you knew better than the younger you but that's a lesson that all too often only time can teach us.

Unbelievable how thin skinned people are these days. I can’t imagine leaving this site because some ppl gave me a hard time. I like him but good Lord. Toughen up buttercup.

He likes most of his DBs to train all over the secondary. With uptempo he likes to be change scheme on fly with same personell on field with limited time to sub. Like others have said star tends to train with safeties but also probably get cb time in closed setting

Thanks Nash for the input. I know that is one of the positions of concern but I really have a feeling we are going finally going to see these talented young men coach up.
