QB job is Keller Chryst's to lose going into 2nd scrimmage

Me thinks some of these reporters are fanboys and have their own favorites. Just as the majority of fans do.
Could be. Some may just be impressed by JG's considerable physical talent and believe without proof that he's gotten the other part or have maybe taken "he's improved" to mean "he's there".

On the KC side... I kind of think it comes down to people doubting JG. I am not sure how anyone is looking at KC and saying, "Wow, an all-SEC QB fell into our laps".

All of which also said at one time or other that Gruden would be coach at UT this season.

I don't care who is under center as long as we win games. They could trot Uncle Rico out there for all I care as long as we win.
All those guys stated that Gruden was gonna be our new head coach at some point? Yeah, that’s not true at all.

Ftr, Price doubled down today on 104.5 the zone in Nashville, saying “this is JG’s Show” and “I think the only way JG isn’t the starter vs WVa is because of an injury”.

well, if he has taken the reigns and being utilized correctly and improving to the point he can take advantage of that talent, it's the best kept secret in the state of Tennessee.
Yup, if the kid has set the camp on fire then Vegas and everyone will be shocked next week. I honestly think they are about the same so it comes down to who doesn’t have turnovers/critical mistakes. I honestly dont think either of them would be starting at another SEC program

is that a do or a don't, feel like your whole point hinges on the answer..............lol

Effin iPhone. It’s a don’t but I haven’t looked at Vandy or Ky for the QB situation
actually, vandy is set. Shurmur is back, and there's no reason not to think he won't be pretty good. KY, i think they're going to be fine too, but ircc, they might be breaking in a new guy.

I could be wrong and these guys might be fairly successful here but I just don’t see it.

well you can take solace in knowingi that whether or not you see it has no bearing on what happens. LOL.

This is true and my expectations are low so the bar...well they don’t have to jump very high for me to be impressed

In pure truth and honesty, I hope you and he are right. IMHO, KC is limited by talent. I think UT's ceiling is 7 wins with him... not what I think they will win but the max I think they can win behind him even with a really strong run game. I've watched enough to believe he has enough head but not the arm. Those supporting him have to do so on his "game management". But that only works vs what JG showed us last year. He had some fairly ugly decision making at times with Stanford too.

IF.... Guarantano has truly overcome his decision making, playbook knowledge, and understanding of concepts issues... then he is a guy who can give UT plays. Enough plays IMO to win 8 or 9 games with maybe a significant upset along the way. I'll say it again. I LOVE the way he throws the ball. His throws on the first two drives vs Vandy last year were not much short of perfect. But I did not leave last year with confidence in his decisions or his ability to make reads or master a college level offensive system. The rest of the Vandy game IMO contained signs to validate those doubts.

I didn't take Pruitt for a wishy washy, indecisive coach. We aren't Alabama where we can afford to just plug in whomever.

Not one of those people ever even entertained the idea that Gruden would be coach here. No one with any legitimate knowledge of the program ever thought that was a possibility.

Very fair, and mirrors how I feel.

A lot has to do with how well the offensive line pass blocks. If JG get sacked twice in the first half, they will pull him.

I kinda think the staff is still trying to figure out what the rest of the team will look like and factor that into the QB decision. Seems like neither QB has been head and shoulders above the other. Just better in different areas.

Could be that if they feel like ththat defense is good enough to win games for us or if the OL/RBs can carry the offense then a game manager is just what we need.

Could be if the defense will be mediocre or if the run game will just be ok that we need a guy who can hit some more explosive plays even if he comes with a bit more of a risk for negative plays.

All speculation, of course.

The big difference IMO is that Peyton was a true freshman. I guess to be fair I would have to also say that Peyton had more talent around him, but there is a huge concern if JG is not mentally prepared to play going into his 3rd year.

And the only reason Peyton played his first year was that the #1 and #2 quarterbacks went down and he was thrown in there by necessity. JG not only had a redshirt season but also had a spring and fall camp to work with the 1st string.

Swain doubled down this morning, calling out the "radio dudes" who claim that KC is the clear leader while they aren't even bothering to spend time watching practice. Without mincing words, he called them "irresponsible."

K town one thing missing from your analysis, Shrout only started one full year. Also you added a lot of words in there that have not been said about Shrout.

You also dismissed the fact that Pruitt himself stated Shrout probably had the best arm put of all the QBs. (You did this by saying media said JG probably does)
