I certainly don't want to go through another season watching that either, but do you really think that this staff went through all those motions to bring in a sub-par QB and are pushing him to be the starter for political reasons?
That would mean you probably don't have too high of an opinion of their overall ability to evaluate talent. Is that fair to say, or are you just having issues with the QB situation? I, for one, am not too high on JG at this point with him going into his third year in college and not being more settled, accurate, and consistent than he is at this point. I would assume both will play and we will see who gets it done when the lights come on...
The only real personell situation issue I have is at QB. I am honest in this. I just do not think KC is a good QB at all, and I don't think he has any potential to mine either. I think the offense is going to look like 2005s with him at QB, only worse.

BUT...I hope he makes a fool out of me IF he gets chosen to start. I am not posting this to continue my ongoing diatribe about this, I am just answering your question.

I agree. Can't have negative plays. That's why I think they'll go with the better game manager - the lower risk of the two. I think they'll look at 3 yards and a cloud of dust as a good play.
When teams stack the box every game because they have no respect for the QB it will be 1/2 yard and a pile of isht.

No i don’t. I think our offense is very simple (throw wise) and which QB isn’t all that important.

I think they will wait til the last second to keep wvu guessing.

Appreciate the insight. If that is the case, I like it. It also suggests that we're game planning a heavy run assault, which as another poster suggested, is the way to keep the defense fresh and the WV offense off the field.

That's a good one lol

Interesting fact I was looking at. The last UT head coach to lose their first game was Johnny Majors in 1977. Hoping the trend continues with CJP and he is able to put together a team that will defeat WV and start the Pruitt era on the right foot.

That's when we go to a controlled passing game. If they stack the box I like our match-ups with our wide receivers against about everybody. That's been our problem the last several years, they didn't have to stack the box to stop the run. They could play a base defense and stop us. Didn't have to take risk of leaving a receiver one on one. I believe that changes this year.

The RF anticipation for the start of the season is building toward its usual irrational conclusions based upon the angst of posters making their cases about schemes and players when nobody gets the opportunity to actually see the schemes and players in action in practice other than maybe Hank. I have enjoyed the meltdowns and tongue lashings. But "farts in dixie cups" wins the prize in my book. It's over now until the WVU/UT post game report for me.
