QB job is Keller Chryst's to lose going into 2nd scrimmage

ok, so here's another...JG transfers after the fall semester. Hurts leaves Bama after the fall semester. Hurts comes to TN with 2 years left.

problemo solved. kinda.
In your scenario, how much does Hurts play for Bama? If it’s more than they allow to redshirt, he has one year of eligibility.

It says the exact opposite. It says they would be surprised if JG is not the qb. How is that the same thing as saying it is Chryst's to lose? It is saying Chryst barely has a shot. That has been what most people have reported. I know Ainge and Swain both say its JG too.

We will know next week. I doubt it will be Chryst though.
Money??

Yes, it's Chryst's to lose. I explained this in another thread.
Pruitt did not bring in a grad transfer senior from a power 5 school to back up JG. Nope.
If you think coaches are objective you're crazy. So, Chryst will get every opportunity to win the job. What does that mean. He will be put in better play calling position. He will get more slack.
That doesn't mean he isn't the better QB. He may rightfully deserve the job, but i can promise you that every afforded favor is being slanted his way.

Pruitt sold Chryst on being given the opportunity to compete for the starting job. That's it. He was brought in to compete for the starting job because JG was the only guy on the roster who the staff didn't feel completely terrible about throwing out there. You don't bring in a one year grad transfer who couldn't even be the guy at his previous school to give him more slack than the competition. Your logic is way backwards on this. Anyone in their right mind will give the guy with the higher ceiling (JG) every opportunity to win the job. A one year mercenary with a relatively low ceiling, Chryst, has to take the job by the horns in order to start game 1. Chryst may well win the job, but by no means is he going to be given more slack than JG. If anything, he has to be head and shoulders above JG in order to win it. If it is relatively close, even if Chryst maybe is slightly ahead, JG gets the starting nod in game 1 because he has the higher ceiling.

This doesn't pertain to your post, but I just want to throw in one last thing. Everybody take what you may have heard Vol Colonel say in the podcast with a grain of salt. Like, a really really small grain of salt. I didn't listen to it, but based on the comments I'm seeing on the board, it sounds like he threw some bs out there per his usual.

May the best man win Shrout is the QB of the future so eager to see who is the man this season.
Do you really think a guy that threw 25 interceptions his senior year of high school is the “qb of the future”... smdh

No...our QB’s are enrolled in college. It’s how they develop HERE that determines their “future”.

Keller Chryst can create separation with second better performance in fall camp scrimmage.

PODCAST: Vols' quarterback competition

"Create separation" ... "2nd better performance".

Why do fans take a sliver of evidence, like @ 1 in 1,000 and act like they are certain about a QB competition? I hope you guys are never on a jury if I'm on trial.

A tiny amount of reps in front of a reporter, who can't evaluate talent properly, and distorts written reports thru weakness or purpo$e, does not establish much.

May the best QB lead us and maybe that's KC. But Lord, the amount of surety in this matter around here is disturbing.

That was my question. Think Saban goes out of his way to preserve that eligibility? “Why is that on me?” comes to mind.
Hm. I'll just say this... I don't think he'd do anything to jeopardize winning. If he winds up playing him in garbage time of like 5-6 games, just for spite... That would surprise me a little.

Why? Think he’s above that? He wouldn’t consider it spite...just damage control.

Pruitt would have brought in ten top notch QBs if he could get them. We need three competent QBs to get through the
Season. We could loose several while the oline practices.
