The Negas don’t want to recognize this. Also talent is only part of the equation. Butch showed us you can have talent, not develop it, and go 4-8.

As we know it, CJP and staff are known for recruiting and developing talent. So a tier 2 class, when developed, could equate to be a tier 1 class.

This. Which is what Clemson has done with their Tier 2 classes in recent years.

That’s laughable. He’s an average WR.
We disagree, 85. I was wrong in what I said. I should have said he has the potential, and has showed flashes of being one of the best.
But to think he's average...go ask that UF secondary (one of the best around) how average they think he is.

The media got a scintillating five-minutes of open viewing time … so there’s not much to report.

Here are some rapid reactions from Friday…

*** Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt spent the whole individual period watching the tight ends during a blocking drill. Pruitt and Brian Niedermeyer were both really challenging Dominick Wood-Anderson, mainly due to effort.

*** The “maintenance days” for Darrin Kirkland Jr., Chance Hall and others continued Friday. Both Kirkland and Hall were headed to team work when the media was being escorted off the field. A new addition to the pit group today was H-back Austin Pope.

*** For the second straight day, wideouts Marquez Callaway and Jauan Jennings were watching the rest of the unit do a drill.

*** Drew Richmond was still at right tackle today, with Jerome Carvin getting a lot of reps at right guard.

*** Several freshman defensive lineman appear to be hitting a brief wall a little more than halfway though camp. John Mincey had to run a suicide and both Kingston Harris and Greg Emerson were getting chewed out by Tracy Rocker.

*** A Tennessee Titans scout was in attendance.

*** The secondary — split into corners and safeties — were doing ball drills while we were out there. Both Nigel Warrior and Theo Jackson dropped their reps. In that group, Trevon Flowers has the most natural ball-skills in the unit.

Dude brings an exceptional mentality to the field. I agree about the football part. The leadership part isnt the angelic type which is a dude you need
Who would you rather throw it to in the endzone or a critical third or fourth down with the game on the line..JJ or Johnson/Calloway?

Call me when Johnson actually makes a big play. That "ability" to make the huge play is what makes JJ special and nobody can take that tag from him. I don't care if all he is, or does is be our equivalent to Robert Horry..I want the ball going to him with the game on the line..he will fight for that ball.

The players you named was a RB who is very comparable to John kelly imo.
A WR who would be 4th at best on our depth chart.
And a solid tight end.

I also don’t see the point in excluding Trey Smith when comparing Offensie lines because when you have a generational talent on the line at any position it’s goinf to elevate the rest.

So for instance our offensive line vs USCe:

Trey Smith
Drew Richmond
Brett Kendrick
Marcus Tatum
Jashon Robertson.

We had two 5⭐️ Starting on the OL too. Although Tatum was a 3⭐️ He had offers and chose us over Miami, Florida, bama, Auburn etc.

I wouldn’t consider Stanford’s actual players that started on the OL last year “1000x” better than ours. The difference is David Shaw coaches circles around butch jones and 3/4 of college football.

For example when Stanford played USC week to with KC at QB his oline was

David bright 3⭐
Jesse burkett 3⭐
BRandon Fanaika 4⭐
Devery Hamilton 4⭐
Nate Herbig 3⭐

So are we talking production or talent because on paper i would take our Offensive line over that. Once again it goes back to David Shaw who is a one of the best coaches in football especially offensively.

Please let it go..

I apologize, buddy; you're absolutely right. I did a horrible job in saying what I wanted. No, JJ is not one of the best WR in the country. I believe the potential is there for him to be, and coming off his So season, I expected him to show it, but...
But no, nothing you said is ridiculous. Now...other things you have said...😉
Well hindsight is 20/20. I don't think I have said too many ridiculous things, but I have said a lot of unpopular things that people don't want to hear, and I have said some wrong things, but like I said, hindsight is 20/20.

DK isn't going to make it imo. Nothing's changed with him it appears
maintenance days. pruitt addressed it yesterday, about giving guys some rest that are coming off an injury. wants them available and fresh for the start of the season.

Never said he was our best receiver-- just that he was looking good until he got dinged up. But none of them, even #1, has been consistent.

I would disagree with that through out the fall anyway. Calloway has been the best WR virtually everyday and looks like it.

That's 3 of them this week. Sorry but I ain't buying that's normal

How many has sapp and Butili had this week?

Washington and Oregon seem to be the exception but i just link that to great coaching. I expect UCLA to be in the same mold going forward. I know people like to point to Wisconsin being good even tho they don’t recruit great but i honestly never think they are that good.

I spent a part of my childhood in Badger country. Wisconsin has always been known for their O- line and RBs.

I agree that Callaway is our best receiver and looks like it every day. But I haven't seen or heard anything that leads me to believe he's as consistent as we need him to be. It would be excellent news if he is.

Calloway and Brandon Johnson are better in every aspect except catching a Hail Mary
Nah Brandon may be better overall because he runs such good routes and has steady hands, but he obviously loses to JJ in the speed, explosion, physicality aspect of his game. Not a great blocker either.

I think they caught a extremely disappointed AU team that didn't figure out they were in an embarrasing dog fight till it was way too late to wake up...but it is still a good point.

@bignewt I don't know why your post I replied to didn't show up in the quotes..
Sure they caught a down auburn team but it was still impressive going solely by recruiting rankings.
