The Atlanta Braves

Gotta give you credit though.. if there’s one thing I learned in this thread yesterday.. it’s that Nick Markakis is significantly more important to the Braves than Tiger Woods is to golf...

No one is commenting on his persona or personal life or being a fan of him or not. That isn’t the point, surprising that you missed it tho
I’d wager noch’s opinion is skewed to some degree by his disdain for him. Also, I’m pretty sure noch understands Tiger’s importance. He, to my understanding, appreciates good golf. A lot of Tiger fans aren’t even golf fans. That’s the disconnect.

I'm not an idiot (most of the time), I know that Brown is ultimately right that Tiger is good for the game of golf and, since I love following golf, that is in turn good for me in a way. Also, I honestly don't really have a disdain for him, he obviously had some pretty terrible shortcomings on a personal level but I don't really get too up in arms about that kind of stuff with sports, I have my opinions for sure but it's usually too nuanced with judging others morals, etc.

My point yesterday that I was at least trying to make is that I've just never understood the appeal for so many people to root for the guy who doesn't act like he likes any body while he is between the ropes playing. He doesn't owe anyone out there a single high five, or handshake, or even a word of acknowledgement because every player approaches their attitude and focus in different ways but if you've got multiple choices on who to root for and one guy doesn't have the time to so much as look at you and another is talking with the crowd, giving out high fives and throwing balls into the crowd I'm just astonished how many people want to root for the first guy. This isn't really new for me, I was in awe of Tiger when he was at the height of his powers and before any of his controversies but, even then, I never knew why people were so drawn to a guy who basically kinda seemed like an ******* on the course.

How dumb does Arizona feel right now? They practically gave us Touki just so they didn’t have to pay Bronson Arroyo for one year.... lol idiots
