We’re not likely to get good QB play whoever we go with. We just don’t have much talent at QB right now. One of our best guys can’t get the mental side of the game down and the other throws bounce passes.

Our offense will be about as good as the OL and RBs can take it this year, IMO.

Pruitt said the best arm is Shrout. Siap.

Watching the video I was laughing at him (not in a bad way). I mean he almost screwed up. He started out talking about "both QBs" and named JG and Keller then sort of had to throw a shout out to McBride and Shrout. I mean we do have a 4-way competition going on. Right? :)

Kind be of weird calling him a “has been” for the second time. Arguably the greatest to ever play or at least top 3 all time. I think he will won another major now.
Definitely top 3, don't think greatest though. I like using has been because it riles people up. He's not as good as he was and people need to accept that.

It just seems like you are all in on JG as a player and you should never be like that. At least til they show they can play at an elite level. Idc who wins. Just passing along info to y’all.

I meant to ask you earlier to periscope the scrimmage to this thread for us. We won't tell anybody so you don't have to worry about that. Maybe you can hook us all up for the next scrimmage? :)

You guys have to remember the media gets VERY little access to the practices and none at the scrimmages. Last week Simonton said one practice they got 9 minutes and another was less than 7. Their job is to report what they see so it's not their fault but that is such a small sample size that it wouldn't be surprising if what they report about certain players might actually not be all that accurate. If they saw all of the practices and scrimmages they would likely have different opinions about many of the players.

I really don't understand why so many posters care so much over who starts at QB. It's like it is an personal offense if _____ doesn't start. I only care about who wins at QB - it could be the scout team QB for that matter. CJP said his highest priority is winning. I believe him.
It's borderline weird on occasion.

Yes i completely agree.this offense is really simple on a Qb too. So they are going to value things like composure, command of the offense, reads at the LOS, etc more than arm talent imo.

I’m a JG fan for sure but my opinion on the QB situation has more to do with how bad I think Chryst would be as the starter. I have zero confidence in him.

Obviously I appreciate the info you bring to the board. Just giving my hot take on the situation

I think people on this board are getting too caught up in tools and arm talent. QBs with far better tools get beat out by lesser all the time.

Chad Pennington couldn’t throw it 50 yards and was a very solid nfl qb.

Command of the offense, quick reads, IQ at the LOS, etc are all more important than which guy can hit a 30 yard deep out.
Like when sims started over Bray or worley over Dobbs because they were safer options? Yeah cool. If we can't crown jg after a practice or 2 then how can you crown kc as the leader after 1 good practice when most reports, even some from you, were that jg was better in almost every other practice.

I've been watching golf since Davis Love III was dominating the circuit. Tiger benefited from weak competition his whole career. Until now. The Young guns don't know the "Tiger affect" and they probably never will.

You’re right...the young ones haven’t, but they learned today. Just ask Justin Thomas.

The roars were pretty unbelievable,” Thomas said of the fans. “I was fortunate to be making some of them for myself. A lot of them were for him, for Brooks (Koepka) and Adam (Scott). … This was the first real kind of a ‘Tiger Effect’ that I’ve experienced — that many people. The fans here were unbelievable all week, and it was fun to play in front of.”

Could be indicative of KC moving ahead or could be a test to see how JG responds. Remember JG on bench vs Georgia Tech last year? Just a thought.

First scrimmage for KC at UT too. Pruitt and Co have seen JG in scrimmage settings already. Makes more sense to give KC extended time for today to get a good idea of who gives you the best shot to win.

I think a full live scrimmage is different tho. And the fact that they chose to give KC the majority of 1st team work is really telling.

This is a pretty plausible explanation for that. You claim to don't have a favorite but you always qualify good news about jg, and one good scrimmage for kc and yer eager to crown him. I just want the best qb to win the job too. I think it will be jg.

I think you’re reading too much into it, honestly. Coaches know a lot more about what JG brings to the table right now because they saw him up close and personal all spring. This was likely KC’s shot at proving what he brings in a scrimmage setting with the 1s. Who gets more work with the 1s Here on out will be more telling than today.

I was going to post that. I don't how it's going to shake out but I'm okay whatever way that turns out to be. Look, I wasn't in on the coach worshipping with the last two guys so I think it's only fair I get a turn now.

We've probably got hundreds of reps on JG with this new staff. Maybe a lot less with KC. Ainge said last week after he declared JG the starter he got a call from someone inside the football office while he was on his way home in his car. He went on to stress that what ever he said was just his opinion. It's going to be interesting to see what he has to say this week.

We are still working and gathering all we can about the scrimmage.

Sounds like the qb's were much more even today. Chryst definitely had a better day than he had this week.

Too many turnovers for Pruitt's liking. I think Guarantano held the ball too long some today.

There were some explosive plays in the run game which was good for the offense but concerning for the defense given how bad they were against the run a year ago.

There continues to be some optimism and some are pleased with the direction the secondary is going. The young players are going to show up there first in my opinion.

One of the most important notes of the day, Chance Hall might get scrimmage snaps next week. Potentially big news if he can help early in the year on the offensive line as that young seems to have struggles with edge rushers.

Lol! Tiger wasn’t even playing a year ago, nor did he even know if he would play. His “has been” greatness is already showing, in that he’s already been in contention in the last 2 majors in his first full year back in competition in 4 years. If he can stay healthy, he can easily contend and win at least 5 more years or more with his talent and determination.

I agree. Very telling. There is no way the backup QB can be anywhere near ready if you continue to give the majority of 1st team reps to the guy that everyone already knows is the hands down starter.
