A lot of what Doug Matthews said today on the Big Orange Sunday show was very consistent with what Ainge was saying last week. The scrimmage tonight among other things is about trying to fill out our top 40 list of players. Both Ainge and Matthews said after the film from tonight is evaluated our list will be 80+% complete and 7-9 days later the list will be well over 90% complete. We’re looking for our best 20 players on both sides of the ball.

They both say we likely will begin game week preps for WVU a week from this coming Wednesday and according to Matthews it’s a one game season. All of our preparation right now is focused on WVU. After WVU we have a couple cupcakes where we will use that time to get ready for the rest of the season. There may be an effort to push our top 40 list to a top 50 list in the couple weeks leading up to Florida week.

Matthews said he’s been talking to people inside the program and will be at practice this coming Wednesday. He wasn’t clear on the composition of the lists but below is my construction based mostly on the names he was throwing around. He said Todd Kelly Jr, Dillon Bates, and DJ Henderson would probably be leaders on our special teams units (all three are red shirt seniors).

He said as long as the game was competitive we would only be playing our best players, the guys from our top 40 list, or top 37 or whatever number we come up with between now and a week from Wednesday.

He also said that on both sides of the ball against WVU we will have the majority of the best players, the majority on offense and the majority on defense. The general narrative is being overly influenced by the likelihood that they will probably have the best QB, a guy we have seen before.

One other thing he did was seemingly compare Guarantano to Tony Robinson and Chryst to Daryl Dickey. Tony as most people would agree was electric, at least twice the QB that Dickey was, but after Tony's season-ending knee injury against Bama in '85 Dickey took over led us to an SEC championship and ended up being the MVP of the unforgettable ’85 Sugar Bowl. He said both of our guys could play and we can win with either but Guarantano has much more upside.

Anyway, here’s my early stab at a top players list on both sides of the ball after listening to these guys. (At this point Matthews doesn’t think either Alontae Taylor or Bryce Thompson starts against WVU. He also said on defense we would likely be in nickel or dime pretty much the whole game. One other thing he said he got from watching CJP coach the defense at Alabama is that Pruitt rarely took his defensive starters off the field in a competitive game).

Key point is that the majority of our likely starters would also be starters for WVU, on both sides of the ball. The good thing is we have them and they don't. The names are listed by position and not in any particular order.

Tiger wins another major before it’s all said and done.

I’m just picturing a back 9 at Augusta next year with Tiger in contention. Imagine him finally pulling through and winning The Masters next year. Everyone would remember exactly where they were watching that happen. Chills.
For sure if he can continue to piece everything together. He’s finally starting to putt like Tiger of old, and his iron game is spot on. He will again soon...maybe even in the Fed ex playoffs.

No wonder you keep saying Tiger is a has been...you were too young to see when he dominated the tour for over a decade. Today was just a glimpse of what he used to do consistently for a long long time.
Koepka could take some lessons from Tiger...

On girlfriend choices. Yikes

I hope he falls off Hogan’s bridge and into the water rounding Amen Corner.
