Pete Carroll praises Shaquem Griffin after first preseason game

This guy is gonna ball out in the league.

Seahawks rookie Shaquem Griffin led the team with nine tackles in Thursday night’s preseason debut, and coach Pete Carroll liked what he saw.

“I am really fired up about it,” Carroll said. “This is what he looks like in practice. He’s running around. He’s really fast. By understanding the scheme, he’s utilizing his opportunities to be on the attack. He’s a weapon in that regard. We have to see how accurate he was, if he was right if he was guessing a little bit, and how he hit it. We’re really fired up. He was involved in nine or 10 tackles in his first time out. That’s pretty good. He played quite a bit. He played a lot in the middle portion of this game, so we’ll get some really good looks.”

“It felt good to kind of get out there and get your feet wet and kind of get some hits in,” he said. “I know [with] the way the league works you don’t really get a chance to really tackle much. So to kind of get out there and get a few tackles in and hit people as hard as you can kind of felt good to hit other people today.”

So, I submitted this image, which I took at the 2016 Florida game (man, was it hot as hell that day, or what?), and it got approved. Not the Tri-Star, but will still be a pretty sweet debit card!

While I approve of the image for your card, your bank is a communist organization and hates Tennessee and Murica.

Still think this is a 6 win football team, with an outside shot at 7 wins. Weaknesses at d line, in the secondary, and it doesn't sound like the kicking game is calling for much optimism. Obviously QB is a question, but I'm fairly confident in our offense. I think the o line, receivers and running backs are pretty solid. I see people on here acting like 7 is almost a given, seen several predict 8 or 9 wins as well. Neither Saban or Smart did that well in their first year, and they both walked into better situations. As good as I think this staff is, they're not going to just wave a magic wand and have us winning that fast. If Pruitt is the guy, you'll probably know it in year two, definitely year three IMO.

He's 34 years old, gets offered his dream job from a former employer, and takes it before someone else could. As a fan, it sucks. But I don't know that he is wrong in thinking that people change jobs every day, and being a coach is simply that. The fact fans are emotionally involved is somewhat irrelevant.

I have no doubt he could have announced it differently, and he probably would if he could do it again - but that's not why people were pissed. People were pissed because he was great, exciting, and he left us after one year right before signing day.

I may be in the minority, but I was overjoyed that kiffin left.
I was upset that it screwed Tennesee, but happy to see him gone.
He was all flash and no substance in my opinion.
An offensive genius wouldn’t have run the exact same play over and over at the goal line against UCLA to lose a winnable game.
When he stated that he was going to make Tennessee into the SoCal of the East, took down Tennesee players pictures and replaced them with his usc players’ pics (in the Tennessee building), he truly lost me.

I don’t understand why people are so enamored with him. He is more loser than winner.
