Sad sad story. Hopefully everything works out well for him in the long run. It's hard to believe it's been 4-5 years since he was committed to us.

Before the concussions, he’d been a mild-mannered, bright kid, a close-to-straight-A student on his school’s advanced track. But since, his outlook has darkened. His self-assurance wavers, and that day, it was at its worst. “I really just felt like I’d be better off if I died,” he recalls tearfully in Lyles’s kitchen two days later. “That’s the first time I really thought about that. My friends and family wouldn't hurt no more, and my future kids wouldn't have problems."

Goodness, just heartbreaking. Quotes like that make you rethink supporting football.

Well, Mexico says it's KC's to lose. I say it's JG all the way. 'Murica.

What did you write it in? I was thinking of teaching myself how to write a model for fun/professional development but I wasn't sure the best place to start

I use a hodge lodge of programs. I used access to wrangle all of the data and keep it all organized, then jmp to do the multiple linear regression, and then R to run some simulations.

If you want to learn something, I’d recommend R. There’s some really good books out there, and a bunch of YouTube tutorials and webforums. If you have a decent understanding of statistics, then you are off to the races.

Questions (paraphrased)

Whats going on with Theo Jackson?

Jackson hasn't shown much to this point and frankly fell off a bit late in spring as more defense was installed. Gotta be mentally better.
-- Hubbs

Jackson is a classic case of what we see vs. what we hear. In the O&W Game, he made several plays. But apparently that was by far his best showing the entire spring and during all the closed practices that we're not privy to, he struggled.

Matthew Butler looks like an SEC DL but guys like Garland and Mincey playing ahead of him?

Butler is kind of stiff and overly technical. He's gotta make some plays if he's going to be a big factor.
-- Hubbs
Butler is a big body. I thought he could become a player here during his recruitment. We'll see. Like Hubbs said, he's a bit stiff. He also thinks way too much out there. He gets in his own head.

Expectations of Jordan Allen this fall?

I think Allen's issue in the spring was in part based on lack of weight and strength. He's bigger and stronger now which is making him more effective. They need him to be a factor for sure.
-- Hubbs
I wouldn't say Allen faded. Rumph acknowledged that he was trying to really accelerate the development process with Allen this spring. The kid hasn't played a ton of football, so he naturally struggled. Now that he has more weight, looks more comfortable, he'll be at factor at OLB.

Latrell Williams: Is he going to get involved?

If he stays healthy, maybe. Not a ton of talk about him to this point.
--Hubbs
I remain skeptical. Of the three undersized WRs, Murphy has the best chance at contributing. Then Williams. Then Jones.

2017 DL class looking pretty rough a year later.

Crosby is an OG now.

Butler isn’t nearly as ready than we all thought. (I still kinda think they can make something out of him if he’s willing to stick things out and keep working for a year or two)

Thaxton is gone.

Hearing nothing about Bennett.

Deandre Johnson is looking like the best of the bunch at this point.

Auburn VS Washington is at the same time. That's a pretty good game.

Others that day in the SEC are Ole Miss vs Texas Tech and bama vs Louisville.
Michigan and Notre Dame is also on...game time is 7:30.

I won't watch it but it could be a good match up.
