Still, it’s quite clear that Guarantano has the most arm talent out of the entire group — and it’s not close, frankly. He can hit the deep outs and outside hash throws, while Chryst’s timing has to be impeccable because he simply doesn’t have the same arm strength.
To say that Tracy Rocker was displeased with his group’s effort would be an understatement. He was HOT today, with much of his ire directed at Kivon Bennett, Matthew Butler and freshman John Mincey.
Interestingly, Shy Tuttle, Kyle Phillips and Alexis Johnson — the three presumed starters up front — watched much of one session while Rocker made the rest of the unit go through a drill. With a long camp ahead, this could be Tennessee’s way of managing reps for a group thin on experience.
Positionally, Emmitt Gooden worked at nose, while Butler, Bennett and Mincey were at SDE. Freshman Kingston Harris was at DT.
Junior linebacker Daniel Bituli looks great this camp (as noted yesterday) and he appears to be taking on an added leadership role, too. On Friday, he was displeased with the way sophomore linebacker Shanon Reid took a rep. Bituli then yanked a walk-on out of the line and made Reid redo the drill. It was a small moment, but that’s the type of player leadership Pruitt is looking for with this team. Accountability.
I'm not so worried about the quarterbacks. I don't think they're going to be asked to do a whole lot this year, at least as much as they've been asked to do the last several years.Defense
Strength: ILB
Weakness: CB
Offense
Strength: RB
Weakness: QB (wanted to say OL but think we’ll be greatly improved). I just don’t believe in the QBs as much as I want to.
