Fox News has no competition for conservative viewership. MSNBC and CNN compete with each other. And I believe that Maddow's show is currently in 3rd place with about 2.67 million viewers per night (just slightly behind Carlson for 2nd) even though she misses at least one night a week.

...and that "fair and balanced" mantra is obviously BS.

And “ THE MOST TRUSTED NAME IN NEWS” isn’t BS? 😂

Correct they went from reporting and informing to gossiping and influencing.
They also went to just covering politics. They used to do sports quite well... Anybody remember Van Earl Wright, Nick Charles, Vince Cellini, Hannah Storm, Bob Lorenz and Fred Hickman?

The media is no longer the media. Freedom of the press is specifically assigned for the media to protect the people from the government. When they begin colluding with specific elements of the government, taking sides, slanting reporting and making decisions for me on what is news this freedom should be revoked. They should be labeled propaganda outlets with limited rights. Maybe this would create demand for a media outlet of the people? The CNN scheme is easy to see, force a confrontation then claim the 1st amendment upon any corresponding action. A child could see through it.

Fox News does this very thing all day long. Sean Hannity has even become an unofficial adviser to the President while also advocating for his policies and defending him against an investigation at night. The fact that you mention "The CNN scheme" but then say nothing about Sean Hannity, says a lot about what is honestly bothering you about the media. It's not the bias that bothers you. It's who their biased against.

Wow.

Yes, the mainstream media has collectively dug their own grave when they sacrificed long-term trustworthiness for short-term rating/profit; particularly in the era of the internet where the barrier of entry is so low. Yes, the mainstream media's pleas for sympathy and trustworthiness when the "real bad wolf" comes with fall on deaf ears and such will be entirely their fault.

However, messing with first amendment rights is a very different thing. A very dangerous thing. The great thing in America is that one has the right to be stupid and the great thing about capitablism/free markets is that stupidity can be easily punished by the consumer.

Not going to gum things up with another thread on media issues, so will just put this here.

Fox News has been absolutely obsessed this week with covering the disappearance of this young woman, a U of Iowa student, Mollie Tibbets. Other networks or outlets have stories on it, and it should be covered to hopefully find her. But, it has really stuck out to me that Fox has story after story about this and it is odd to me since disappearances unfortunately occur routinely. There is some reason that Fox is so focused on this. Anyone else seeing this?

Maybe she met Bill and/or Hillary.

I do wish the media was a better friend to the citizenry. They are supposed to be the fourth estate protecting and informing us. But when everything Trump does is the end of the ****ing world (and it never is), they aren’t serving us anymore. It’s fearmongering and unrestrained bias and everything else we don’t need from journalists.
Fourth estate? How about 5th Column?

Stalin and Lenin often used the phrase "vrag naroda", until Khrushchev came into power and denounced it's use. Translated, it means the same. Think about that. Nikita Khrushchev is condemning, albeit from the grave, the speech of a United States President toward the media. His grandaughter who is a professor in New York, told the NYT that it was particularly shocking to hear the language of "state nationalism [that] is always the same regardless of the country." Others that have used the phrase-Hugo Chavez, Nazi Joseph Goebbels, the French government during the "Reign of Terror," and during the reign of Emperor Nero. Such great company Dotard is keeping.

"Dotard" is a word that the dictator of North Korea used toward Trump. Maybe you should worry about the propaganda that has found a home in your head...

It speaks to what an oafish dolt he is. The most apt term yet by KJU. Better than Rex Tillerson's "f***ing moron'. Or John Kelly, Reince Priebus, and Steve Mnucin's "idiot". Or McMaster calling him a "dope". Or Gary Cohn's "dumb as sh*t". Even Thomas Barrack, a friend and adviser to Trump was quoted telling a friend that the president is “not only crazy, he’s stupid." These are cabinet members saying it, goof.

That’s not even hitting on the fact that you have a sitting Congressman ( from Georgia )that said ..” I’m worried that if you put too many troops on Guam , it will tip the whole island over “. You sure you want to play The he said game ?😂

Lulz, this word vomit only plays to like 3 other people on here, maybe 4. Literally no one cares about any of this except the resist bunch that just can't get over having their ass handed to them in 2016.

Your buddies Luther and Mick along with few others have called the press an enemy of the people.

It's funny that you ignored the entirety of my whole post and fixated on "dotard" because it hurt your feelz.

I doubt it. Probably called Fox News that, because it's state run propaganda.

And CNN was state run propaganda just a year and a half ago. They’re both considered the “press”.

Trump is referring to all of the mainstream media that doesn't fall in lockstep with his lunacy, but you already knew that.
