Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

I would recommend reading the ESPN article. It has direct quotes from the doctors and others involved instead of Rucker's takes. The doctors mentioned there's no guarantee but that there would be no guarantee even if he didn't play anymore. I don't think this is a decision that is being taken lightly. And Rucker seems to be trying to put a spin on it TBH.

KV was also the poster who said Trey wouldn’t play football this year and probably never again.

I was looking at Keller Chryst’s Stanford tenure and sort of trying to clean up the stats and see if any of it made sense. First off we hear that he was 11-2 as a starter but while he started in the Sun Bowl against UNC his injury occurred early in the second quarter leading 10-7. He never returned to the game. Likewise, he appears to have started in the win against UCLA in 2017 but was apparently replaced after only 4 pass attempts.

In 2017 Stanford appears to have had difficulty settling on a starter. It looks like he sat the game after UCLA (AZ ST) then got the job back and started and won the next 3 games. Apparently he never played after that. So I have him at 9-2 and in those 11 games his offense averaged 35.27 ppg. The 2 losses, first to USC, then the next week to SDSU, could be a case of letting USC beat you twice. Both were the first 2 road games of the 2017 season. In the games he did not “own” in my assessment The Cardinal went 6-3 and their scoring average for those 9 games dropped slightly to 32.0 ppg.

If the focus is on his record as a starter in 13 games, then in those games The Cardinal went 11-2 and averaged 36.23 ppg and in the 7 games he did not start after first winning the job in 2016, The Cardinal went 4-3 and averaged 29.29 ppg.

I’m not sure if Helton’s offense can average north of 35 ppg this year but it’s what we got used to with Debord and Dobbs, ranking #3 among SEC scoring offenses in 2015 (35.2 ppg) and #2 in 2016 (36.4 ppg).

IMO, what likely happened is that they found the PE and likely had no great cause for it. They probably ran a hypercoaguable workup and found no inherent clotting problem.

Typically for these patients, they get 3-6 months of anticoagulation and sometimes follow up imaging to make sure clots are gone. His work up was likely negative and August is probably his 6 month threshold. Of course doctors can't guarantee he will or will not get another clot but medically we only lifelong anticoagulate people with an inherited thrombophilia or people who have recurrent clots.

My thoughts exactly. Took the words right out of my mouth

We have 3 spots left as of now. Who you guys taking?

Give me Wright, Crouch, Bush.

I think we're at the spot where current commits might start getting recruited over if we can get better. Cox has been rumored to flip to Auburn, so Williams takes that spot. If Moore wants in, we may process Middelton. If Bogle wants in, we might see Clemons processed. It's all speculation, but in the end, the coaches know who they want the most and what positions they need the most, Those will be the players that stick. I don't see us saying no to Wright, Crouch, Bogle, Hill, Bush, or Moore if they want in.

You number worriers really take the fun out of this thing.

Maybe, but it's real and if we're being realistic, it needs to be addressed. It'd be nice if the problem didn't exist, but it does and it's not going away.

Doesn't mean we can't have nice things.

I'm going to split the difference and say UT has 5 spots left and I want:
1. Wright
2. Bogle
3. Crouch
4. McCollough
5. Charles Moore
6.(in case of a Cox flip) Khafre Brown- yes I know he may be a huge long-shot, but this kid looks mad explosive
