Vols get new commit from GA DE Roman Harrison

There is a difference between offered and recruited. I love how you cry "we don't know if those offers are committable" when it's other schools but claim that all of ours are.
B******.

Several in state alone that we never pushed for whether you admit or not.
Please go ahead and link the post where I made that statement in your next post in this thread as I don't recall having made it.

Difference with Pruitts 3 *'s and Jones is that Pruitt's sound and look more like men versus soft soy children.

Remember even in the days of modern tech, there are always diamond waiting to be discovered.

Kid has great size, speed, and strength. I hope he brings a 3 star chip on his shoulder and is coachable. If so could be a steal!

But how do we get better without better players? We will not beat talent level of UGA and Bama by coaching up the diamonds in the rough. So I guess the plan is to coach up some rough talent so that in 2-3 years we can consistently beat VU, KY and MO, putting ourselves in position to slug it out with UF and SC for second best in the division and then we hopefully start attracting enough talent so that another 3-4 years down the road we will be close enough to level with UGA and Bama that we can start thinking about the SECCG and cfb playoff? Pruitt will never last long enough for that process to play out.

Tennessee right now can't recruit with Alabama,Georgia and Clemson and that's the way it is but i think it will get better in the future. If you think Tennessee can recruit with Alabama,Georgia and Clemson right now you're not realistic.

Pruitt: Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, err... coach, not a miracle worker.

No such as thing as a Jones 3 star and Pruitt 3 star.

John Kelly
Cam Sutton
Dylan Wiesman
Owen Williams...were all very productive 3 stars! All by Butch.

All recruits should be judged on individual basis.

This kid Harrison is a straight dog! Pure Football player. Who is also very athletic.
Butch was a decent scout.
But Pruitt is better.

ha, funny. after he commits to us, his rating was bumped up to over .85, and is now a 3 star composite.

he camped here, coaches saw him up close and personal. 6'2", 240, runs a 4.6 40 with 39" vertical. this is different than scrambling in Jan/feb trying to replace a guy you hoped to get.

Very good point. Big difference in the two scenarios.

The problem with Butch and Dooley wasn't that they took commitments from "diamond in the rough" players... it was that they took their commitments and then let them keep their commitments even with subpar results during their senior seasons. We'll see how Pruitt handles it, but given how he handled the Lawless situation, I think I know the answer.

You guys understand we're in for a bunch of huge recruits too, right? Some of you are acting like we're JUST taking lowly rated recruits...

Honestly, I'm not sure many do.
There are so many recruits still available and so much time left.

That's how you know the "we couldn't get any better recruits, so we're having to settle" is a false narrative.
If it's late December, yeah, better grab what you can.
This early? The staff isn't taking them unless they have a real interest in them.

Right, no one else knows these guys are diamond in the rough, just Pruitt.

Oddly enough, you just described what happened with WR (Young, I believe) last year, perfectly.

Pruitt offered a kid with no impressive offers. Not long after, FSU is all over him and steals him from us. Sucked.

yep. went from zero to 4* over night and no one knew who that kid was. no body. then all the sudden FSU is in, flips him and he's suddenly a steal.

this staff is consistent. they don't go by ratings, they go by evaluations...their evaluatins. i cant tell you if those are good or bad (though i have a feeling what it'll be closer to when it's all said and done) but at least they're following someting more than what "looks good on paper".

It seems like the paradigm shifted with ESD. Last year I was glad that this staff was able to recover most of the ground we lost when Butch was fired but with this staff's recruiting reputation I expected to see some big surprises in February and it didn't happen. It seems like every time UGA gets a 5*, we take a 3*. I don't know if there's cause and effect there but it's not hard to see why people might think so.

Chip Kelly will be available in two years. So we can pluck him away from ESPN three years later. :)

Yeah, I've said it about the rankings the entire time, even when a 4 or 5 star committed. He wasn't getting them because services said he should want them and I knew there would be 3 stars coming that were in that same boat.

I tried to make it clear that I have no idea if this method will be successful, he may fail miserably. But anyone that follows recruiting by the ranking services are gonna have some rough days with Pruitt, success or failure.

But based on recruiting rankings right now we are doing as good of a job competing with them as can be expected. We have a new HC whos never coached a game anywhere and currently have the 13th highest class when it comes to average star ranking. Thats better than a lot of teams who have been a heck of a lot better than 4-8 and 0-8 in their conference last year. We have 1 5☆ and 5- 4☆ on 247 composite and are in the running for a lot of other big time recruits all before Pruitt has ever coached a snap here. Imagine if he shows any kind of improvement at all this year?

You are always there with a word of encouragement. Silver linings.

You’ve been depressed since I’ve been aware of your existence. Floating the hope of The Great White Overhyped Hermit doesn’t cost me anything and warms your shriveled heart I’m sure. :)

Tennessee i think can have a top 10 recruiting class in 2019:rock: That's an interesting chart, thanks. Wow,i didn't expect Tennessee's 2019 recruiting class was six places ahead of Clemson:thumbsup:

The other question is this. Are we so confident that we will land many of these highly ranked guys that we are able to also take some developmental guys that have potential or are we taking under the radar guys because thats all we can get? We'll know the answer to that one on NSD, and as a betting man, id put money on the former, not the latter.
