We are an entitled, petty, barbaric country: Handicapped parking shooting

In this case, is there a separation of morality verus legality or are they synonymous?

Well, this is America. Race is going to get brought up. We have a history of this sort of situation (old white dude shoots young black dude, old white dude goes home) going unchecked.

Not that it applies to this situation imo, but it is going to come up, especially in this political environment.

I wonder who's son he's going to look like?

This isn't even being a "Barney Fife". At least Barney was a cop. This is going full Charles Bronson vigilante justice over a freaking parking space. Dumb.

That's stupid. This was expressing his first amendment rights. Someone broke the law by assaulting him.

I want to add "self-centered" and "egotistical" to the thread title.

"nerf herder"

As the sheriff even said, "Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should." Law enforcement should be left up to those who have been trained in how to do it. One again, he should have taken a picture of the car and reported the matter to the proper authorities (assuming it was that important to him) and left the other woman in the car alone. As a regular citizen playing hall monitor, you are much more likely to ignite an unnecessary confrontation than you are to get someone else to see the error of their ways and make adjustments. When you are a regular citizen, the other person doesn't have to listen to you or heed what you say. So, what is the point of saying anything?

And the women shouldn't have parked in the handicap spot. And she should have rolled up the windows and ignored the guy instead of exiting the vehicle. And her man shouldn't have pushed him to the ground. Lots of blame to go around.

We are talking about legality. I have already said that the shooter should have minded his own business. But the post I called stupid compared the guy arguing about handicap parking to Charles Bronson's death wish plot. (Was it your post? Not sure.)

That was a crazy comparison. Ridiculous. It's legal to say things. It's legal to argue with people. In public. Even about things that aren't really your business.

He was not a vigilante. He was a jerk that got physically assaulted over words, and shot the guy who assaulted him.

If he had minded his own business, it wouldn't have happened. If the tough guy wouldn't have assaulted him, he would be alive. A lot of stupid. But I suspect only one person broke the law.

Charles Bronson vigilante... Sheesh. It was a conversation about parking spaces.

He meets the strict definition of a vigilante. He was trying to enforce a law (a freaking parking violation at that) without the legal authority to do so.

What do you think about his alleged history?

How is saying "hey ******* you shouldn't park there" enforcing a law? He wasn't going to write a ticket or detain them. If you've decided the rules don't apply to you, you should have thick enough skin to deal with someone calling you out on it. She should have rolled up the windows, locked the doors, and waved.

Instead we got another episode of "When keepin it real goes wrong".

How big an ole boy are ya?
Up until age 50, I was 6'1" and 185 . Somehow, I've managed to shrink an inch, and gain 8 or 10 pounds......maybe 12 now. I just went to the Cracker Barrel. Been driving back from Florida today, and stopping over in Ft. Payne, Alabama for the night.
