Following his suspension last week, Ryan Thaxton has been dismissed from the team

Its the right call but I also think CJP sees a good opportunity to draw the line in the sand so the rest of the team and incoming players "get religion"

I hope that CJP always responds in this manner to such totally unacceptable behavior. This is beyond a teaching point. One of the Vols selling points is family and teaching young men how to be responsible, not just on the field, but in all walks of life.

There will be room for another scholarship for next seasons recruiting season now
Maybe it is just best to not even have a girlfriend while in college
Think back and recall all of the players dismissed from our team due to situations involving females
Go to college for academics and football. If you wait until you are out of college and are 22 years old and you live to be 72 years old then you will have 50 years to be with females but you only have 4 years of college football

So you want a bunch 18-23 year olds to take a vow of celibacy? Good luck with that.

Or CJP needs to enforce the Love Contract, of course this is not going to happen. What did our AD say again,”nothing good happens after midnight.”

Agree with you 100%. Opened up ESPN NCAAF today for first time in months and two of the top headlines are about the jury for the rape trial being set and Thaxton blocking the door of a 'girlfriend'. Is it time for UT to become an All Male college so that we can avoid further embarrassment and help the safety of women??

It looks like CJP is making an example here. That's about all he can realistically do. You could start a curfew, but that's going to be hard to enforce and likely not sit well with recruits. From what I can see he is handling this correctly.

Obviously I do not know the detail of the situation. Whatever they are apparently the coaches felt warranted to release him from the team. I hope this send a message to other players, recruits, media, and fans that this staff is not going to tolerate any of this.

I was being less serious on the matter in my first post. It wasn’t supposed to be a real policy.

Ah, hard to tell on here sometimes. There are those that seem to think the little social life our players have time for is to much.

There is a similar type college for this: BYU - sign up for no sex outside marriage @ no smoking or drinking

I'd assume that the coaches know more details than the general public does.

Yeah, Butchna mentioned a video of the situation earlier in the thread that I wasn't aware existed. That explains, and justifies, dismissing him before the police investigation is concluded imo.

If you’re a male in today’s world and put yourself in that situation then you are putting yourself at risk. Certainly not saying he was right by any means, but you have to be a good person and use common sense. This sounds like Thaxton made some very bad, unacceptable decisions. If that’s the case he needs to be gone. No one should ever mistreat a woman or anyone else.

Or maybe we should expect our young men to act and behave like decent human beings.

Some people are raised in an environment in which academics is not a premium. So the attitudes of some are to play in the NFL and not think twice about a degree. So some people could care less about graduating except to please their mother by getting a degree

You are correct but in today's world of kids showing up summer before their freshman year and going to classes year round, all they basically have to do is just alittle more than stay eligible and they have a degree in 4 years!

Tennessee had to cut him loose because you can't keep a player around who beats his girlfriend. This is a tough loss considering the lack of depth on the defensive line.

i dont think I read where there was any "beating" involved. I did read where he pushed her and prevented her from leaving the room/apt. (which is bad but its NOT "beating") but I could be mistaken.
