Murray And Pollack

I think it has to do with they are offended with the way CJP's relationship was with Mark Richt. Richt was their coach and CJP made waves challenging the expectations and the way Richt handled business at Georgia.

I've yet to hear either one say CJP isn't a good coach. They just don't like the way he dealt with their coach.

They didn’t say this **** when JP was coaching at Bama. They’re a bunch of whiny *****es

No, actually said it while he was still in Athens, I typed the story in the other thread so not going to rehash but it was just round hole, square fit. It’s not exactly a secret what happened with his time in Athens, all the guys yesterday in the media said they all know the story including Finebaum and the Bama guys. It is what it is but has no bearing on Pruitt going forward, none. He will write his own story now, he just knows he now is more in the spotlight. He will be fine.

* The best UGA team in 30 years beat a team that quit on its lame-duck head coach. Hardly an adequate measure of the true talent levels of the teams. For example the previous three Uga Vols games were decided by one possession.

So now Butch was a lame duck coach as far back as Sept. of last year? :loco:

And somehow UT fans managed to pack AND Checkerboard Neyland that day!

How come there are no UGA fans that are porn stars?

Because they choke in the big moments and always come up a little short....

Are you telling me they didn't quit on a coach that most knew wasn't coming back the next year?

UGA is in no way scared of a team that went 0-8 in the SEC last year. Kirby Smart is losing absolutely no sleep thinking about the 2018 UT team. What may be causing him to lose sleep is the 4 games he has absolutely blown/choked in 2 years (including the national title game) due to questionable coaching.

4 games? Which ones? He probably isn't losing sleep on UT right now, but I hope he is the week before the game. Regardless or how the game turned out last year if you overlook any SEC opponent you're liable to lose the game. I obviously don't follow UT as closely as its fans do, so I might be wrong, but my impression of UT isn't that they're talentless. It's that they have question marks at key positions, most importantly QB. If UT didn't have the QB question then there would be less questioning of the overall talent. Like last year before the game I said UT had an advantage against our secondary with their WR core. They just couldn't take advantage of it like other teams with decent QB's like Lock and Bentley from the SECe. Just my :twocents:

We'll find out soon enough about Pruitt. What I have seen in the off season is encouraging. Hopefully we'll be better on the field and want have to do much to be better.
Really don't care what any former player, talking head, or whomever has to say. We will still see it for ourselves when the season starts until then it is just a bunch of blabber.

There is no hidden agenda on what Pollock and Murray are saying. I doubt they sat around and came up with a plan to bash UT. Nobody in the SEC is scared of UT (look at the past 10 yrs). UT wasn't scared of Bama before Saban or UGA during the Goff years. UT will be back among the elite soon.

They choked 3 games late in 2016: Vandy, GTECH, and the Hail Mary game against us. They choked the national title game against Bama last year. That's 4.

I seriously doubt that Pruitt will ever beat UGA or Bama while he is head coach at UTK.

There is a lot of talk on the rf about looking at who else has given a prospect a committable offer rather than star ratings. Who else put a legitimate offer on Pruitt's plate? I just don't see where some of you are coming from with the expectations for Pruitt.

I couldn't stand Butch but there's no way he was a lame duck coach in Sept.

Did they quit? I don't recall them ever getting started against UGA last season.

Because he is a winner. That’s all he’s ever done, everywhere he’s ever been is win. Period. Will it come year one? Lord no. Takes more than 1 season to un-do 10 years of Butch Dooley. But it WILL come. I can’t remember the last time a coordinator with as much of a pedigree as Pruitt became a head coach. Maybe Jimbo? Tom Herman? Kirby? I dunno. But you don’t accidentally have constant top 5 defenses and win 5 national championships at 2 different stops as an assistant. That’s coaching. Plain and simple.

I don’t remember people lining up to throw jobs at Dan Mullen at Mississippi state either, but apparently he’s the next Nick Saban now?

Just read/saw the tweet that Pollack had about the hiring of CJP......I stand corrected on my post above.

A tad 2 faced, I think.

There could be a case made that they quit on him in the fourth quarter of the Florida game, hence the narrow victory against UMass, and the blowout loss to UGA, but yeah keep acting like the whole team would carry Jones through lava all the way up until he was fired. There is a reason only two returning players left when pruitt came in, they knew they wanted and needed a new coach.

Also, Pollack says Tennessee doesn't have players to run a pro-style offense. If he thinks for a second the personnel we have are more suited to a spread/read option offense, or some other type of offense, the guy really knows nothing about Tennessee or football generally.

Did he see our likely starter at QB play last year, or know what type of WRs Callaway and Jennings are? They are not guys well-suited to playing a spread style, despite Guarantano being touted as a dual threat QB as a recruit. Our offensive line is simply bad no matter what scheme we play.

So your logic is that every close loss is a choke? Not sure I buy that train of thought. UGA wasn’t supposed to win the natty last year, let alone the SEC, so I wouldn’t really consider losing in OT by 3 a choke. I mean bama was up on Clemson the same amount the year before going into the fourth quarter, did they choke? Does Kirby get credit for the half time adjustments against OU, or did OU just choke? I can understand disagreeing with Murray, but not really sure I’d buy that Kirby “chokes” games away, especially after the season he just had. Richt was/is a choker, so far I’d say Kirby hasn’t.

Butch wasn't 100% a lame duck coach, IMO, until after the South Carolina game last year. I remember walking out of Neyland after that game just knowing he was done. You can definitely argue that he was a lame duck after the Georgia game though, too. There was no effort whatsoever in the UMass, Georgia, or South Carolina games, until the final drive of the South Carolina game because they actually had a chance to win the game.

I agree with Bloom that the team quit on him after the Florida game, not because Butch was a lame duck coach, but simply because it was another loss to Florida in a totally demoralizing fashion.
