I am perplexed as to how any American can defend this press conference, regardless of who the POTUS is.

Another disappointing example of how strong tribalism has become in our politics.

I merely asked a question of if they thought Trump should have called Putin a liar right there in the middle of the joint statement.

I also (in another post) stated "wait and see" on what happens in the next little bit.

Not sure that's defending what he said.

But Trump should have had a full-blown liberal style tantrum/hissy fit/meltdown right there at the podium to make his point ... at least have minced over, done a sissy stomp, and drawn a red line.

Nothing Trump said today was going to be received well

He’s not tough enough

Why is he trying to start a war being openly confrontational like that.

I’m more interested in what was said and done out of the public eye. I’ve dropped a link several times now showing Trumps policy is overall more comprehensive and tougher than Obama’s was. Of course it’s ignored in partisan manner. Ok fine whatever I don’t care about your crap facts either then.

But we’ve seen over 10 years of no engagement and it’s gotten us nothing. So let’s put the screws to them policy wise, engage them in open fashion in the public eye, and then press the issues when the cameras are gone. THAT discussion is what matters. It’s the only one that matters.

For Chrissake the two most powerful counties in the world always have direct communication links within reach. The “red phone”. So freaking communicate!

I got the joke but a lot of this people in the country do operate with that mindset. Both sides included. I see political ads running as we speak demeaning candidates due to their association or former support for anyone that isn’t a republican. As if the problems we face in life can only be solved in a republican or democratic way. Nothing in life is that black and white. This **** is getting out of control. At this time, we have a president siding with a forgein government over his “own” party. This is the type of stuff that could leave us with a more insane version of Trump coming from the left next election.

I agree with you. Our two party political system is pure garbage. I was speaking with my best friend the other day, who is a hard core liberal btw, and we were discussing just general politics. We both agreed that both sides have very good ideas and policies. And if they would just be adults who really care for the country, things could get done.

But you are saying here is a huge problem. Instead of putting aside party allegiances, both sides take turns bashing one another. All political ads are just slandering one or another. Frankly, if we want to talk about what truly divides us in this country, its our two party system. At least imo.
