SEC Media Days. Which players should attend?

Pruitt will want to show we're not devoid of talent. Plenty of "high character" guys like TK JR, and Taylor, who can have really good years, but I'm going with: Smith, Kyle Phillips and Kirkland. Kirkland because I think he can be a key leadership piece if he's healthy, and w/ the thing about him leaving the team, I think this puts him in the forefront of coaches supporting him.

I think he will probably save smith for next year.

I'm glad all that's up to Coach Pru. At first appearing to be another mundane, frantic-for-news portion of the waiting-for-football-time period, your post, OP, allowed me to realize the notable collection of guys with the kind of character and experience that just might propel our fellas to a better-than-expected season. Sorry for all the hyphens, ladies and gents, but maybe-just-maybe (yuk yuk) 2018 is the year the power T will return to its "much feared" status. GBO!

It should be 3 seniors. Always. The ones that will get to run through the T by themselves at the end of a career. Never an undergraduate.

Kyle Phillips, Micah Abernathy, Todd Kelly Jr.

Darin Kirkland or Shy Tuttle wouldn't bother me either.

Who cares , it’s 2018 we have the inter webs now . It’s just a dog and pony show for the few media that even attend anyways.

Are we goin to have another fake spat between Saban and Paw ?

You have never been if you think it's just a few media members. It's in Atlanta this year, but when it was in Hoover there were media members set up downstairs doing talk shows, media members upstairs and downstairs. It's always filled with Media members from everywhere. Doubt it was fake between Paul and Saban. Finebaum will criticize Saban just as quickly as anyone else. He's nowhere close to the Bammer that some of our fanbase make him out to be. He will make fun of Alabama fans as fast as any other fanbase. A lot of it is for show but it's had him listener's and TV watchers for many, many years. Ala and AU fans have made him a lot of money and helped land him a spot on the SEC Network. But I can guarantee you he wants the Vols to get back to winning again. Lots of his show is a front and it's made him millions doing it. I've seen pissed off Ala fans call and cuss him for talking $hit about their beloved Nick Saban.

I think it should be upperclassmen, so JR's or SR's, but I'm good with anyone who will represent us well. He probably takes 1 Offensive player and 2 defensive players, with JP being a defensive guy. We have very little leadership returning, so hopefully some step up. Guys like Chryst, London, TK Jr, Hall, Phillips and Tuttle would represent UT well at Media Days. No way you take Jennings or even Warrior after his much broadcasted and violent fight with a Tuttle last year. Also need guys who can speak well in public and not sound like some uneducated football player with zero personality. I'd really be surprised if Chryst isn't one of the three. He speaks well and looked comfortable in front of media members. London is another guy who would be a great choice. No starters have been named yet anyway and no elite superstar has emerged, so both would be perfect representatives for TN.

Just way tired of the Butch years and this BS brick by brick BS media days dog and pony show BS is what I don’t want to hear about. Take three guys that are injured or won’t be playing this year because we need the 3 you guys are banding about need to be on campus working out , doing football football football stuff

Media Days has nothing to do with Butch Jones. It's something that has been going on for decades, and will continue long after we're all dead and gone.

You take guys who are leaders, who represent what you stand for as a coach. It's an honor to these kids, kinda like being named team captain.

Absolutely right! It's an honor for these kids to represent their school at Media Days. Plus it being JP's first Media Days, he will take 3 who will represent us well.

Interviewer: What do you think of your football team based on your playing experience with them?

Chryst: Er, uh, uh, er, uh...

Haha..I'm glad he doesn't talk that way or he can stay away from the media lol..He does speak well and looks comfortable in from of the camera. Actually sounds like he actually has a personality, some of our previous QB's didn't come off that way. Dobb's was another good speaker and one we wanted representing Vol Nation.

Can't disagree but do you really want Chryst in front of the cameras when he has had zero on-field interaction with his brand spanking (to him) new team?

Absolutely.. Although he hasn't gone through camp with his new teammates yet, he's interacted and gotten to know some of them. Plus they work out together and thrown with other offensive players. He's not gonna get asked about each teammates likes and dislikes or anything personal. Plus he came in before he graduated and spent time with and interacted with his new teammates. He spent a week in Knoxville during Spring Practice and went through team meetings and watched a few spring practice's. He also hung out and got to know them on his OV earlier in the year. Lack of familiarity shouldn't be an issue. He's been said to be a high character guy and was well liked and respected by his Stanford teammates. Being the leader that he supposedly is, he's probably gotten to know a lot of the players in his first month on campus.

0% chance our coaches send a grad transfer or a QB.

A lot of people mentioning TK as someone who might go, but I think they’re forgetting his incident a few months back. Not sure they’re gonna want him to go when questions about it would be an obvious go to for reporters.

The staff only made 5-6 guys available to the media all spring. IMO it would be surprising if any of our media day guys aren’t from that group. If he gets cleared, Smith could be a possible exception. Not sure I see anyone else there, though.

None of the grand transfer backups like London or Chryst will go. Get real. :eek:lol:

They may not but seeing as how there's been no starters named JP can go the SR and well spoken route. I just threw out some Sr names as possibilities. But now I'm really hoping Chryst and/ or London go just so you'll be wrong. I swear, your obsession with a 20-21 yr old is pretty concerning. And I've noticed anytime myself or anyone talks about any QB besides JG you go into mother mode. Hell It's an ongoing joke now with some buddies and I. I'll post something QB related that doesn't involve your unhealthy obsession and then we just wait. Your ability to sniff it out and comment quickly is pretty impressive.
