No question. My original post was written with the idea that it might be happening as we speak. Decreasing attendance, a drop in ratings, etc., across a variety of sports.

There's more at play than a portion of the sports fan base being pissed because of the anthem protests. They're starting to stay away in greater numbers and apparently aren't tuning their TVs in either.

Agreed. Once it gets to the point where they are making less money with higher tickets/concessions than if they were to lower the prices and sell more, it’ll be more affordable for us normal folk.

It’s nice to see some stadiums starting to do that already with the concessions. Believe Mercedes Benz Stadium is like that now.

I wish we had Kimbrel, too. Vizcaino just isn’t a closer. He’s too inconsistent. You can almost guarantee he will have at least one base runner every time out. Didn’t Soroka pitch recently and very well? Did he get hurt after that? Would love to see us go after a Degrom type starter and maybe even go after Kimbrel to come back home. The Padres stink anyways. They aren’t making a playoff run.

If you believe that a 27 year old 4 time all-star player only offer in today’s NBAs, where Aaron Baynes just got more money than him, was 1 year for 5 mil then idk what to tell you. At first his story was “he had no significant offers” then when all the back lash started it turned into “it came down to Celtics or warriors” (how does it come down to those two if you only have an offer from one?) now it’s “his only offer was the warriors”. 🧐🧐🧐 sounds fishy to me.

Also, I’ve never said either of those players were much older than Jordan. So if you want to lie be my guest. That whole argument was that Jordan didn’t have to play against a team full of younger superstars like the warriors.

Soroka is on the 60 day dl. So we have folty, newcomb, tehran, sanchez that are all seviceable to great. We need one more starter we can count on dependable middle relief and a closer. Minter could be that guy though.

I can't think of the last basketball player who came back from that injury anywhere near their former self. Certainly not Kobe.

Dominique Wilkins had already slipped athletically before his...he got back to that level. And people need to remember’s Cousin’s game isn’t built around extraordinary athleticism. He’s never jumped high or flew by anybody. His game is built around his post moves, strong rebounding and elite passing...he can get back.

See it a little different. Hurd was misused and did not trust his coach for various reasons. Apparently with the advice from those he trusted, chose to better himself outside of UT. Others in the Butch Jones era also “quit” on the team. Notably in my mind Venzell Boulware who could have helped drastically last year.

A lot of people change jobs because of bad bosses. Hurd’s leaving was one of the undeniable indicators that Butch was in over his head.
Plot twist: Hurd plays 2017, we win 6 games, and this fall we have AD John Currie and Head Coach Butch Jones leading our athletics

Hurd hurt the team with his attitude and leaving in the middle of the year. Regardless of how he was treated by the coaches, he owed his teammates more than he gave them.

Ever been on there? It’s very cliquish. They instantly regard you with suspicion and circle like hyenas while Huffhines vehemently argues with every take that you have. I’ll debate my basketball during football off-season out here...in the fresh air. :)

4 out of the last 6, and several complete blowout losses. Unreal to think about.

Part of the problem is we had so few Tennessee people involved with football during that stretch. It just didn’t mean enough to our teams the last few years.

You have provided no evidence other than a rumor from before any deals could be offered and what you believe about his market value. All of the actual evidence (and logic since nobody was gonna pay a head case coming off a ruptured achilles only 5 months ago who probably won't play til the end of the season and may never fully recover much more than he got) shows that he was very limited in his options.

And speaking of evidence, don't accuse me of lying when a quick word search in this site of Drexler pulls up yer original post. Yer right in that you didn't say they were "much older" you said they were both 35 plus. But you were trying to imply it. And it was easily shown to be false as Drexler was 30 when he played against Jordan (29) in the finals and Stockton was 34 when he played Jordan (33) in the finals. Additionally, it was not about playing against a team full of younger superstars, you argued that he didn't guard the best player on the other team and I put up stats showing that he did. And you attempted to discredit my actual evidence with some made up "fact" (sensing a pattern) trying to imply that the were older so they weren't as difficult to guard. Then I again responded with factual evidence that they were all the same age.

I'll stop with this though since it is pointless when all you do is counter evidence with yer feelings about what may have possibly happened because you can't fathom that nobody would pay him this year. Don't worry, this is likely going to end up with him signing a big deal with la bron next year once he proves he recovered. And with Leonard probably ending up there too next year lebron will have his super team. :hi:

Didn’t know that about Soroka...that stinks! I wouldn’t trust Minter yet as a closer. Definitely a good arm to have in the pen. I agree with you about what our needs are before the deadline. Hope we make some moves.
