Recruiting Forum Football Talk LX

I went to the FF to check out the response to the news that Pruitt is letting go of the medical staff that previously was in charge of UT football. I saw so much whining based off of a John Brice story, I knew that I needed to come to the Recruiting forum for a better and more balanced discussion. I'd be curious in hearing everyone's thoughts on this, but for me, this is all a non-story.

At the end of the day, this is a situation where 2 providers from a clinic have their oversight replaced by 2 providers from the same clinic. The docs are coming from Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic, so it's not like a rival specialist group has gotten in and taken their business. Plus the providers have exception credentials. One of the docs did was the chief resident at UF Health (in b4 the hate - I hate the gators as much as everyone else, but UF Health is an exceptional academic health system), and this doc also did his residency under Dr. James Andrews, literally one of the best of the best in the ortho surgery space. The other provider did his residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center, and did an exclusive fellowship in hand microvascular surgery at Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. It's not like these aren't well renowned specialists. I look forward to seeing improved health outcomes for the UT football players. The injury bug we have is not all on S&C. The medical staff shares some of the blame as well.

Most importantly, providers are graded on results. If you're a provider who's patients aren't well managed and are experiencing negative health outcomes, you're going to be penalized by losing your access to health plan contracting, losing your ability to take on new patient, have your patients transferred to other providers, and even face financial or criminal penalties in the case of fraud or gross negligence. If you're looking at UT football as a patient population, they have been poorly managed, and are experiencing extreme health disparities (more starts lost to injuries than any other program in the nation recently). It's time for some new blood in the medical field. Speaking from experience, docs are some of the most territorial and ego-driven people you'll ever meet. No wonder Brice is quoting these unnamed sources. It's probably the fired docs who are upset their colleagues are taking their previous oversight. This is FAKE NEWS, and I welcome the opportunity for these new providers to make a difference and help us to win some games!

Friends of the 2 doctors are going to complain. Some VN poster's will complain about the change because they are uncomfortable with change, even though the change will have no direct impact on them. Some others will complain because misery is what makes them most comfortable and they want to share their misery. Everyone else will understand that Pruitt had his reasons, right or wrong, and it is his show right now.

Anyone done whale watching before?

Yes, twice. Our first was an excursion out of Seward, Alaska before our Alaskan cruise began. It actually was a glacier, whale and fjord sightseeing excursion. We only saw a few whales...gray whale breaching and a few Orcas cruising...but the balance of the excursion more than compensated for it.

We also went on a private snorkeling and whale watching tour on our recent trip to Hawaii. We saw humpback whales until we were almost bored. Saw a few breaches. Funny thing is the next day we were hiking and I saw a humpback breach that was like you'd see on a TV commercial, and it cost zero. Haha!

We're glad we experienced it but be prepared that you might only see a few...it's still pretty cool.

Turkey Man got in a great line this morning on Swain. Talking about the state of Georgia trying to steal Tennessee water since forever but now they need to build an Ark. Because the biggest water carrier ever is moving to Atlanta...Mike Griffith. :w00t:

He never said Griffith but didn’t need to after Swain & Co started howling.
