I know there's probably one of these buried deep on here but oh well. It's the offseason. What is everyone's prediction for the 2 deep on both sides of the ball? How many freshman do ya'll see starting and coming in and making an immediate impact?

Clearly too early to figure out a plausible prediction, but your question is nonetheless pertinent; also occupies our little UT lovin' brains whilst we await football time in Tennessee. IMHO, If this incoming bunch is better than advertised...and this ol' Vol thinks that's the case...then we're looking at some serious competition for most all positions. We've already got a heated QB race going on. The OL may just be already pretty set up by Coach Friend, and the LBs...at least starters...may just be ready to take over. Otherwise, I see lots of extra effort from all involved at securing roster time. Let's just keep believing. It won't hurt.

I can say with some confidence that Cimaglia will be our kicker.

Everything else seems to be in flux. If I had to put money on another one, I'd say Bituli is very likely one of the starting LBs.

1 deep: 50% accuracy
2 deep: 33% accuracy*
3 deep: 60% accuracy*
4 deep: 90% accuracy*

I'm excited to see our WR's man.

Brandon Johnson(Very smooth route runner and hands it seems)
JJ(Straight Dog!)
Callaway (Hands and ability to score after catch)
Palmer(physical)
Byrd(So athletic and fast)
Jacquez Jones(many was talking about him in the spring last year before his knee injury)
Jordan Murphy( Good hands)
Latrell Williams(SPEED)
Alontae Taylor( Can he get some minutes in? I know he's a baller and hungry)

We have some talent out there fellas

Agree, but I don't care how fast or how good a route runner a guy is or how good he can catch the ball, there only a very few 1 or 2 step routes that you can use over and over. With the history of this o-line group, that's all these guys can expect. If they have time to run a good route, the QP is running for his life and makes a wild throw that likely can't be caught.

I'll take a WAY too early shot at it.....

QB- K. Chryst or J. Guarantano.

RB- Ty Chandler (M. London, J. Banks).

WR- J. Jennings, M. Callaway, & B. Johnson. (J. Murphy, J. Palmer, J. Jones, A Taylor?)

TE- D. Wood-Anderson (E. Wolf).

OT- T. Smith & D. Richmond. (N. Niehaus, J. Johnson)
OG- B. Kennedy & M. Tatum or C. Hall. (O. Lane, K. Calbert)
C- R. Johnson. (R. Locklear)

DE- K. Phillips & D. Johnson, M. Butler, or R. Thaxton.
DT- S. Tuttle (A. Johnson).

OLB- D. Taylor & J. Kongbo (A. Smith, J. Peterson, J. Allen).
MLB- D. Kirkland & D. Bituli. (Q. Sapp, W. Ignot, S. Reid).

CB- S. Shamburger, M. Osborne, B. Buchanan. (K. George Jr, T. Bailey, A Taylor?).
S- N. Warrior, M. Abernathy. (T. Kelly Jr., C. LaBruzza).

Props for actually being the first to try and answer op"s question.

1) Sapp is not OLB.
2) Harris won't be here till 2019

Good calls on my mistakes.

I'm not sure how close I'll be come fall but it does look promising seeing something "on paper". Like I said, WAY too early but we may not be too bad.

For us to be told our current team sucks enough to lose 6-7 games, I sure do see a number to guys on the depth chart that we sought after by a lot of top schools.
If Pruitt can develop at a high rate of speed, and seeing how Freshman and Sophomores play a lot at Bama, I might be inclined to buy into the 8 or more win column.

Gotta keep most of them healthy too. That's seemed to pose the biggest threat the past few years.

Theo Jackson will be pushing for playing time at the SS position.

A few things we can deduce. One, the roster is better than we thought. If there were massive deficiencies we would likely see a lot more attrition with guys being told to move on.
Two, guys are buying in. There have been no off season issues.

Who is we?

I've seen many argue that the roster was bad, but not the "end of the world" bad that others were arguing.

Correct me if I'm FOS, but, we haven't heard about a lot of off-season injuries as in years past. Now, it seemed like Butch thought he was a CEO giving an annual disclosure/report at times. So, maybe Pruitt just doesn't disclose that stuff. Or, hopefully, his coaching minimizes getting guys hurt. Just speculatin' over here.

Go Vols!

He'll start.
Maybe Johnson plays gaurd.

If Smith plays at OT, gotta think Johnson is a starter at guard. Not sure if Locklear or Carvin wins the other OG spot in that scenario, but I’d probably lean Carvin if he has a productive summer in S&C. Can’t teach 6’4 330.
