No. They had the worst record.

Was 2012 Auburn's worst team? No. There is zero chance they would be playing for the NC the next year if that were true. It was their worst record, but not their worst team.

If you can't understand the difference, I got nothing to help that.

Good teams don't go 4-8. Last years TEAM was the consistenly worst UT TEAM I have ever seen after the Florida game. Whatever the reasons may be, they were still 4-8. The TEAM should be better this year for a lot of good reasons. It will be a lot of the same players, but they will be a different TEAM...I hope you understamd what I'm saying.

Everybody's writing off Shrout. He needs to bulk up some more and get some experience, but he can play in four games and still RS. He's athletic, makes good reads, has a strong arm and has shown he can scramble when he needs to. He needs to work on his accuracy and improve his footwork, but he could end up being better than people think. It'll be interesting to see how he develops this year.
Also needs to learn how to read a defense. 25 INTs in one year is really bad.

Hoss if you think McBride or shrout is going to lead us to a 7-5 season you are sadly mistaken. We wouldn’t get to a bowl game. McBride isn’t very talented and shrout seems really turnover prone.

Where did I say anything about McBride or Shrout? You make assumption after assumption.

Can we stop this narrative that we aren't a talented football team? Bituli, Kirkland, Kongbo, TKjr, Warrior, Taylor, Tuttle. Defense will be a strength this year. Kirkland and Bituli in the middle should be scary if DK comes back and plays like he did before.

Chandler is stout. I thought he was better than JK last year. Jennings is back, natural born playmaker with that it factor. Callaway will ball out in a vertical oriented passing game.

Sure we have question marks, corner play will be critical.

OL play will be critical, but getting Kennedy and likely Trey back should alleviate a lot of those concerns.

We have three glaring question marks. QB, CB, and OL. Get average play in those three positions and we're a really good football team.

JG or Chryst lives up to potential and all bets are off.

I see the team as players. You see the team as their play. Fine.

Yes, it is. He was in HS. If he doesn't get better, he won't see much PT. We have a roster of average QBs and are hoping that at least one of them can elevate. Those of us who want to win as much as possible as soon as possible don't care which one.

Because McBride is trash? 42.5% passing against two horrible defenses. Shrout has upside but I doubt he will be ready next year.

The judgement of JG here is ridiculous. It was his first year playing and it was for the worst team in Tennessee history under what I consider the worst coaching staff Tennessee has ever had on offense. He didn’t look at for a freshman. All of his mistakes were things that will improve with experience

I have nothing against JG and hope he's our starter because that means he has shown significant improvement and that will be better for the long-term.
But..
I find it silly how people like you come on and explain every issue as to why JG shouldn't be judged from last season but then throw McBride under the bus.
Same OL, same receiver routes, same coaching but NO experience practicing with the ones. And never expected to play.

He may be horrible for all I know but "can't judge JG given the circumstances but judge the hell out of McBride with even weirder circumstances" is a messed up take.

Are you ok? If JG transfers after this year, they’re the only QBs that will for sure be on the roster (unless McBride leaves before then).

I'm fine.

I would assume that a competent head coach would be working between now and the '19 season to add additional QBs. Just like the one that went 8-4 in our example.

This was exactly my point.

As I explained earlier, you can form opinions. Both played with the same awful offense and JG was better. Significantly better in my eyes. How is that difficult to understand?

Again.."You are what your record says you are"

This year I expect a better TEAM and a better record.

We just disagree. A 4-8 that played to the best of their ability and had no injuries to key players is not the same as a team full of talented kids that was capable of 7 or 8 wins and ended up at 4-8 because of injuries and lack of leadership.

It's the difference between a Corvette with a couple of bad plug wires vs a worn out Camaro. Lap time may be the same, but that's where the similarity ends.

Quantity rather than quality. I will take our class now and on signing day over Purdue's.

Absolutely, their player average is 6 points less than ours. Definitely great by Purdue's standards!! It's kinda crazy that just last year we had classes like that.

Also Nick Marshall was at AU for two years. If Chryst was a two year player I would have zero problem with him winning the job. That’s not the case though.

You think recruits would be cool with us going 8-4 and then barely or not making a bowl game? We’ve heard crouch will pick us based on this year’s performance. If he gets here and we start losing I bet he and others like him would leave. No restrictions on transferring now.

No restrictions on transferring? Sitting out a year is still the rule unless you are a graduate transfer.

Players aren't just going to transfer at will if we struggle a bit in year two.

Because, as I said, McBride significantly more extenuating circumstances, how is that difficult to understand?
All the people here that predict the quarterback, no matter who it is, do the exact same thing. "It's obvious my guy will improve significantly with coaching but those other guys, doubt it will have an effect"

It's a make up your mind and all other considerations be d*****, outlook that everyone takes once they've chosen their pick of the litter.

I hope they all end up superstars and never rule anyone out. Neither should you guys, given our past 15 years experience with the situation.

And the OL will have at least two 5 stars and a 4 star on the starting team.

Because you’re wrong. McBride played against USM, who is bad, and Mizzou who was also bad. JG played against better competition with the same 💩y circumstances and did better. Pretty clear to me who’s better.
