7 wins was underachieving. Y’all may have a point at 10 but 7 was no doubt underachieving. Didn’t play over our heads to get those 7 wins. Keep it real.

Most people still think he is a great head coach. He has a track record of being a total f up.

I don't think Kiffen's lack of maturity is his defining trait as a HC and likely what will keep him from ever being a good HC.

But he's one of the best offensive minds in CFB and a borderline savant calling plays. That's why he keeps and will keep getting chances at HC. He's still only 43 and he's on his 4th HC job. If he can ever grow as a person, he may turn into a big time P5 coach one day. He's got a lot of coaching ahead of him.

Not holding my breath though.

Wondering the same here. Seemed like his mechanics and accuracy were better in the few glimpses we got of him as a freshman than as a Junior.

I thought I saw his right arm in a sling during one of the games. Probably misremembering though

The Greatest College announcer period! From my childhood to his retirement I would rather turn the volume down on TV to hear a legend as I know many of you did. Prayers for his family in their loss.

What was the timing on this? Was this even contentious? Most were expecting Steele purely because so much had gone wrong up to that point.

I just got an email that said John Ward passed away.
I just started crying for a man that I have known for 40 years, but never actually met.
He will always be the Voice of the Vols to me.

He will forever be the voice I hear when our Volunteers make a great play in football or basketball!
“Give him Six!”
“...tackled by a Host of Volunteers!”

“Bottom!”
“String Music!”

John Ward is the Legend the I was lucky enough to hear throughout my college years. Unparalleled in his abilty to paint a picture with words.
