I find it interesting that everyone wants to talk about the damage done by Dooley and Butch (and there was a lot) but don’t talk about Kiffin. All this started when Kiffin left so suddenly for USC (actually started when Fulmer was fired with no plan) and left a crater when his only signing class turned out to be smoke and mirrors. Dooley was a panic hire (Muschamp’s fault, he must still be laughing) and Butch was a cheep hire. The mistake of Kiffin started the dominos.

There was a plan after Fulmer was fired. The plan was to hire Kiffin. I still believe if Kiffin would have stayed he would have won here. He was head and shoulders above Dooley and Jones.

RS rule change is really good for Shrout. He can get experience in four games and still keep his RS. The coaches can see how he manages the game and responds under pressure, so they'll have a better sense of our QB options.

Was just think same thing after reading Geaux's post. Those cupcake games are really going to be good for colleges to get freshman QBs live game snaps in 4th quarter.

The rest of the positions will be interesting to see how coaches handle the new rule. You will have the group of players that you know you will play all season and aren't even being considered for redshirt. You will have the group that are obvious redshirts that would be good to squeeze in late in small games for live bullets. Then you will have a set of guys that are borderline that you have to decide do you play them early or do you wait and play them in the backend if you think they will help you more depth wise late than the first couple games.

Should be fun to watch how it plays out regardless

The school was not protected in Kiffin's contract. Buyout was stupid.

I completely understand why you said this - but we saw some good players and fun games during this time. Maybe I’m Pollyanna but that’s what I want to remember when I think of the last decade. 🤷🏻

Why argue about which was worse? They are 1a and 1b on the list of the worst coaches in Tennessee history. Neither did us any favors, they both can suck on a million warheads for all I care.

Just because there was a plan does not mean it was a good plan. We have plenty of evidence that it was a terrible plan.
