Josh Dobbs (merged)

I think that dude nailed it he’s a 4-5 year back up

He ain’t Rex grossman or Shane Matthews where he was coached by one of the greats and understands the game because of it can collect checks as backups for 15 years

Dobbs was coached by a ****in loser and I doubt 3rd string is getting much coaching or many reps

Game has changed tho somehow Sam Mr Glass Bradford still managed another 20 mill garunteed 1 yr deal so who knows what happens Dobbs has talent d4h just sounds like 12 year old who just started watching football when he talks about him

I honestly believe I’m more qualified then some of these asshat GMs tho

Blaine Gabbert is still in the league lol

Might be taking the statements a bit out of context but come on now. The guys you are naming have taken regular season snaps. And maybe they didn't get to in their first season but they didn't have a team draft a QB the very next year after they got there either. But as a passing QB, I am still wondering why you think Dobbs has more talent than those guys and YES, you need to be a talented passing QB to play in the league. Now saying he is an NFL QB just because he is on a roster, I mean, hey, teams take a flyer on guys all the time and sometimes it works, and sometimes you draft someone else the next season. Dobbs decision making and reading defense were never great in college and his mechanics always seemed like a work in progress. If he switched to WR and learned to run routes, he would already be hitting the field because he has athleticism enough to go hard, fast and make guys miss. But QBs sometimes can't let that go.

He will take snaps at some point. Fitzpatrick was replaced several times before he became a terrible starting qb. If he can get some starts Dobbs can. Dobbs passes the ball better than him and several other qbs in the NFL.

Dobbs may not start for ten years straight. He will get some starts and backup some years though. That would make him an NFL qb. Just not a franchise guy, which I never claimed he was.

Worley, Fergie, Dormady, Shrout.

Fitzpatrick does not have as much talent as Dobbs. Neither does Siemian maybe. Gabbert no. If they can start in the NFL. Dobbs can if he gets the chance.

He is an NFL qb with more talent than qbs who have started many games. If that is not your opinion fine.

He is a NFL qb though which is what the debate was. I responded to the people saying he should be in Canada. Obviously NFL guys don't think that.

How are we making the same argument?

Saying he is an NFL qb, which he is, that can be a backup or maybe a decent starter with a few years of coaching is not the same as saying he will be a Hall of Famer and one of the best qbs in the NFL.

Fergie 100% produced and Shrout hasn’t even played a down. Are we not allowed to be excited about recruits? The other two I’ve not seen anyone pumping them up

LOL Fitzpatrick has 119 starts to his credit, he's not a 'terrible' QB, but he has played on terrible teams. How he won 10 games with the Jets in 2015 I will never understand, even had a win over the Pats that year.

Dobbs may be in the NFL, but he's not an NFL QB, I guess you don't understand that distinction. He's never going to be more than a career backup, hell Palardy has more regular season attempts than Dobbs. :eek:lol:

Moving outside is his only ticket to longevity in the league, otherwise we'll see him wearing an Argonauts uniform in the not too distant future.

I don't even understand why saying he'll be or would fit better in the CFL is an insult; there have been several NFL QBs who first succeeded in the CFL before they did well in the NFL. It's not like the CFL is a bunch of chumps, there are plenty of CFL players that could make it in the NFL.

If Dobbs went to the CFL and improved his game, won some games, and generated some buzz then came back to the NFL, that seems like might be better than being 2nd or 3rd string for 5-6 years and only getting to play in the preseason, mop up duty, end of the year meaningless games, or waiting for the starter to get hurt.

Bull:crap2:

Its sad some of you still are hating on a player that actually produced but pump up a bunch of players that never have or will.

I think he will be a Tyrod Taylor type starter one day. If not he is definitely good enough to be a NFL backup.

He can’t make the NFL Throws

Oh crap! ANOTHER QB on the roster has to have a chainsaw accident with enough time for Dobbs to hoist the Super Bowl trophy as a starter.

I could talk about eras,

If you were starting a team today, would you pick Cam Newton or use time machine and grab Norm Van Brocklin?

Oh, so when I said:
If you mean "ever" literally

And you responded with:
Literally

You actually meant:

No, not literally "ever." I'm judging Dobbs against the modern era of quarterbacks.

I'd still disagree, but at least your position wouldn't be laughable.
