'19 WV OL Darnell Wright (Tennessee signee)

So I poked around and watched camp and high school footage of the upper echelon OL recruits and...

Verdict:
Darnell Wright really is next level... Don't know that I've seen a kid come out of high school that prepared for the next level since Orlando Pace...

- Quick off the snap
- Exceptional agility for holding that kind of weight
- Prototypical LT long arms/body type
- Great technique, a few things to work on... not perfect yet, but WAY above par coming out of high school
- Nasty attitude... doesn't quit till he drives you through the ground

Those poor HS linebackers... what happened when he went to the 2nd level and got ahold of some of em is comedy gold... somebody with video editing experience should put together a highlight reel of those

We're supposedly in the driver's seat on him... I wanted him just for bragging rights before... now that I watched all that tape... NEED THIS DUDE... if for no other reason... just so nobody else has him!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if he was on campus right now he’d start at LT.

Living in WV and watching many of the teams he faces, the competition isn't the best...

I wasn't just watching his... I watched film on all of the top10 OL by Rivals and 247... competition be damned...

The kid is CLEARLY head and shoulders over the next best OL... including Morris, who had great footage

I don't throw out Orlando Pace as a comparable just to do it... he's NFL R1P1 bound if coached right

Gottcha... so what did you see... eye test wise? I have watched plenty of HS type too... so this is fun for me... just so you know I’m not being a jerk.

I feel like you ARE being a jerk, but whatever man... this is what sets him apart IMO...

They can move the kid all around the line just to plow... the defense knows exactly where the play is going and they know it's not a pass... it's a run... he blows two guys out of the d-line... and buckles a LB like a rag doll... I don't care the competition... shows me he can handle a D1 lineman one on one NP... more than that... shows me he has the awareness to not just stand over the guy he just buckled like he's King Kong... keep pushing! There's more than a few instances of it on film... when he hits that second level it REALLY is comical... everybody is a playtoy

While he's in pass pro, check him off the snap... QUICK... feet shuffling with confidence and balance, great agility in short space... you can't throw him off balance... long arms immediately up to the mid-chest ready to punch... when he punches the DL goes backward and his balance stays intact. Watch his tape... My old coach used to play Bruce Lee videos and that was what to strive for when blocking... you cut guys off with agility and angles, you strike quick and fast to keep them off their lines, you push through the back of the person when you punch... you ALWAYS stay balanced in your blocks.... if you go off balance you lost, we had some American Gladiator style platforms and sticks to practice balance with... it was fun but it taught you how to balance and strike quick and meaningful...

Look at his Nike camps... elite prospects everywhere... they have him at tackle stance in drills... he's got the agility vs fast guys to push them all around the outside... you're not getting to that cone... the strong guys can't push through him--they get pushed back...

On tape... from the tackle spot... he's got the push to maul on the run and the finesse to push around the pocket while maintaining balance...

It's true elite tape... I'd show it as a HS coach for how it's sposed to be done... if there was one thing I'd criticize in his technique from his tape, it'd be in the run blocking he loses balance fighting people to the ground when he should just displace them and hit the next level ...

Nobody in this class or the past that I was excited about enough to check the tape on the top 20 linemen have impressed me this much... this kid's coming out of high school with going to the NFL credentials
