Trump cancels Singapore nuclear summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un

How so? Because we now have a president who tells us that Kim Jong Un "loves his people"? Yeah... Trump told Greta Van Susteren that in an interview. The same guy who puts dissidents in gulags and has used anti-aircraft fire to murder critics of his regime (even when they were members of his own family) loves his people - per our president. Is this a tough love sort of thing, Donny?
You are so used to a president that appeased and asslicked that you don't recognize one that negotiates. lol

Ido. not real well, but I play. I would love to find somebody local to jam with. I am kind of at that point where I need to get out and do it.

You started the guitar talk yesterday and it got moved to Pub. I downloaded an old take of Page that I played. Can u listen to it, or is my format proper?

Thought I would of heard some boos by now.

It's like you are looking for things to criticize.

Trump has a style - this is it. Not sure why anyone is surprised - I presume it's faux outrage. We all know Trump sucks up to people he's dealing with so long as things are going good. It is a style; nothing more, nothing less.

If things go south he'll go back to saying horrible things about Lil Kim and I bet you'll criticize that too.

The big picture is that the relationship has changed between NK and the US and SK and Japan. It may not yield the homerun we all hope for but I have to believe that some of the ice has cracked.

It's positive, it's movement.

They were complaining a few months ago because he was talking mean to Kim. They are holding their collective breath hoping this deal will fall through. Nothing is good that makes Trump look good. Where were these people during the Iran deal, you know, the guys that are killing US troops daily.

What made it successful? It’s a wait and see thing right now. Little Rocket Man May say F Trump and back out of any deal he’s ever made. It’s his MO

He has no MO of doing any such thing. His father was the deal breaker. This is the end game that his father was working toward. Build, nukes, test them, build long range rockets that will carry them, then you have a big chip in the game. Play it to insure longevity.

Yes, he does. Trump even (comically) praised Kim Jong Un for being "popular" among his people. Perhaps Trump isn't aware that failure to show proper respect (as defined by Kim himself) for Kim's leadership is punishable by death? That would lead to a high approval rating wouldn't it? I'll concede "faux" outrage to this when conservatives concede "faux" outrage to Obama's apology tour. Some call it "negotiating". Some call it "asslicking". You just called it a "style".

The big picture is that nothing has changed yet. DPRK has given up nothing (at least not yet).

As for style differences I'll take peace through strength over lead from behind any day.

Sounds just like Stalin to me. The epitome of democratic dogma was FDR himself, who felt to align himself with a butcherer to accomplish a greater goal.

Pragmatism then, pragmatic now.

Well of course they were complaining, it’s what liberals do. They have to have something to whine about or they’re not happy.

That is empty rhetoric. Nothing has changed. There is nothing strong about lavishing praise upon Kim Jong Un: According to Trump, Kim is a "funny guy with a great personality who loves his people and is a great negotiator who is very worthy." He is also "very talented". :puke5:

I'm reminded of the wise observation from the election.

Trump's critics take him literally but not seriously.

Saying that Kim Jong Un "loves his people" isn't asslicking? :ermm:

We have a long history of not commenting on civil rights abuses by our allies. See Saudi Arabia. This comment does come off as dumb but if he has to kiss a little ass then so be it.

Kim also has final say on anything and everything NK does.

MSNBC and CNN are a joke.

you are confusing Trump's comments with strong diplomacy.

we cranked down sanctions even harder; put pressure on China and to a lesser extent Russia to make the enforced and cranked up the visible and verbal rhetoric.

Once NK signaled they would talk we had the meeting.

We have given up nothing.

The cessation of wargames is contingent on negotiations progressing. If NK backs out we are back to war games and more sanctions (on top of what we had).

Trump's praise is just a tiny piece of the puzzle.

We have cracked the ice beyond what was done in the past. Things have changed.
