Just to be clear, your daughter thought Hillary a better choice? She thought Hillary of higher morals? Did your daughter actually read up on the candidates? I'm not attempting to be mean, but you're acting like there was a good choice to be made. There wasn't. I get that your daughter, for whatever misguided reason, supported Hillary and considers Trump to be Satan. But on the other side of that, there are many who see Trump, not as a good choice, but better than Hillary. I gotta be honest, imo, Hillary is closer to Satan than Trump. Either one was a bad choice, but one of them had to win.

I get that some like to portray Hillary as the victim of a vast right wing conspiracy, but c'mon. Linked to one scandal, maybe. Linked to two scandals, eh, possible. Linked to scandal after scandal after scandal, Hillary's either dirty or an incredibly gullible fool. How many excuses can one make for her?

And I know, Trump, Trump, Trump. For the love of all that's good, very few are defending his character flaws. And there has yet to be substantial proof of any wrongdoing on his part. You've said his character makes you think he's guilty. That's not actual proof. Show me evidence and you can obnoxiously tell me "I told you so!" as many times as you want, but until that time, I'm not going to agree with you.

Honestly, I'm sorry your daughter had her idealism crushed, but don't we all eventually? We all want to believe things about the world and the people in it that's not true. At some point, we all see the world for what it is. If you thought that would never happen to your children, you're fooling yourself. I'm sure it was very sad for you. It's sad for any father. But, as cold as it sounds, that's life, and you cannot protect your children from eventually seeing life for it is. There are very few "happy endings". (I know someone's probably make a joke about that.)


As evil as the left find Trump, I found Hillary just as evil, if not more. Either way, someone was going to be upset by the election results. I would have loved to have had better candidates, but we didn't. At some point, you have to suck it up and move on. Hoping and praying for the President to fail, to be removed from office through anything other than a valid election, I just don't see how that's "best" for the country. We have Presidential elections every four years for a reason. You don't like the person currently in the White House? Try and change it in the next election. We, as Americans, can do that. All the bickering and back and forth, it's petty. Honestly, the left is not helping itself as they are coming off as sore losers.

That may help explain your ability to continue your support of Trump (and that's not intended as a knock - just acknowledgement of incomprehensible differences in the makeup of people), but I love her priorities. She knows exactly what is important. I would not change a single thing. She even changed her major to Public Policy.

Luther, I don't think you're a bad person, but many of your posts take a "holier-than-thou" tone. Hell, maybe mine do too.. My point is, everyone has an opinion, shaped by life and circumstance and personal morality. Truth is, there are myriad reasons one may have their opinion. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, that it's healthy to argue opinion. The problem is, some people believe in the "rightness: of their opinion so strongly, they think their opinion should be the only valid opinion. We're not all of one thought. We never will be. But when you shut down listening to others because you feel that you're right, and they're wrong, you stop learning. People having differing opinions is not a bad thing.

I only want Trump to be removed for a valid reason(s).

Other than that I agree with, or at least understand, everything that you are saying. It was a horrible moment in history. It was the first presidential election for both of my daughters. and we laughingly acknowledged that they got the worst one of their lifetime behind them.

And yes, she thought Hilary was the better choice, but it was the world view she represented compared to Trump's that was the difference. As far as character, she viewed Hilary's as far from perfect but light years beyond Trump's. (and I agree)

Sorry, but a politician shouldn't be a big priority. I have managed to do well under all of them. I depend on them for nothing. I just go on with my life.

That's true for the most part. There are occasionally issues that go beyond just a matter of opinion. (slavery, equality of races and genders, child abuse). Some things approach such clarity in rightness or wrongness, that opinion becomes moot. Reagan, Bush I, or Bush II...pretty much any of the other 16 repub. candidates, did not even remotely approach the "wrongness" of Trump.

I realize I come across as "holier-than-thou", and that is a characteristic I dislike in other people. But to me, and millions of others, the Trump fiasco is the rarity that moves beyond opinion; and reaches that point of obvious right and wrong.

I've also done well under all and will continue to do so; as will my kids. The thing is, that's not true for everyone, the world is a big place.

In this country, that is generally the fault of the individual, although I am fully aware that some are born into a disadvantage due to their family situation. There will never be equal outcomes....never.

I don't know your daughter, but I also think people crying over a lost election are insane. At the very least, I believe they have misplaced priorities. It's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

Your gut has been wrong so many times...……...as in who was going to win the election, etc. I wouldn't necessarily rely on it if I were in your shoes.

The death of a parent, sibling, child, or spouse is much smaller in the "grand scheme of things". We obviously have differing views on what constitutes the "grand scheme of things".
