He ran on the "Let's see if people are willing to elect an idiot" platform. The more idiotic he got, the more some people loved him. He was sort of like the total eclipse of the sun. Things aligned perfectly for a brief period of time with no light. During that time of complete and total darkness we got Trump.

He’s no different than every president, or politician before him. You claim he is an embarrassment before the world. So was president Obama on his apology tour. Bowing to other world leaders ect.

Tens of millions of people in this country think Trump is a new low. You say he is no different, but his whole appeal to the Trumpers was the very fact that he was different.

I think deep down they know they wont have a candidate capable of beating him in 2020 (should he decide to run again) thus they are doing anything they can to remove him.
