You too bud. I would encourage you as we end this discussion to read some serious works on this subject and not revisionist history you find on the internet. Even Agnostic Bart Ehrman who doesn’t believe we can trust the Bible would not make these claims. Hope you look into this more.

People also don't HAVE to clog up a recruits thread with posts that are appropriate elsewhere. I've said before I don't mind a little banter at all. But page after page after page is just a lot to sift through. I'm not even really reading, just trying to find some info.

Actually you’re wrong. There are only two religions in the world when it comes down to it. They go by different names and have different systems, sure. But every religion in the world says that man earns his salvation or enlightenment or whatever through human effort. Name the religion, and it will be a system of human achievement.

Except Christianity. The Bible teaches that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is His work that saves. You may not believe the Bible, and I can’t make you, but truth is truth. The resurrection of Christ proves both that there is life after death and that Christ is the Messiah who was promised. There is one way, and Christ is the way. My only hope is that God will one day show that to you.

See what I mean. Your first response is that I am wrong. Its your way or the highway. I cannot support a system that says there is only one way. This world is not black and white. It is what it is. I am happy it has filled your heart with faith and love. More power to you.

It’s because I believe the words of Christ: “For God did not send His Son onto the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:17-18.

agreed. i had a guy tell me once that because i wasn't saved in his church, i and everyone else on the planet, was going to hell. and that he felt bad because of it.

i was like, what about the world's population, of which around 60% were non christian, all of them too?

"yep".

"what if i told you they said the same thing about you?"

His particular church? As in, unless you’re saved in grace baptist church or whatever his church is you can’t be saved? Or, unless you trust Christ alone you can’t be saved?

There are lots of COC people that believe if you aren’t a member of the COC denomination you’re going to hell.

Hence heaven but if you do bad and don't follow the rules, hell. That is why the poor and disenfranchised or repressed always have flocked to church and have such faith. There must be something better for us show us preacher, show us scripture! Show us how we are right and everyone else is wrong!

You can find happiness in many different ways, ways you can actually live in day to day and enjoy and still respect and love your fellow humans however they may feel. I want everybody to feel happiness and peace and if it is through religion or faith that is great. When they start to preach its their way or the highway or start wars or bomb innocent people to further their beliefs that is where the flawed humanity comes in.

If everybody could just be tolerant and say "hey I found God, Allah, Buddah, etc and I am saved... I hope you find whatever way gives you that too." the world would be a much much better place.

That's all I got.

he was church of christ, dunno if he literally meant his brick and mortar or just his religion...either way, thought it was just dumb, and narrow minded.

But if his message is that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone, you may feel that is dumb and narrow minded, but it is the teaching of Christ in the NT. Your issue then would not be with your friend, or with me, but with Christ.

I can say the same thing, and be more accurate. Common sense tells us this world was created and did not explode into being uncaused out of nothing. Common sense tells us that we were designed and did not evolve into intelligent rational beings by pure blind chance. That’s common sense.

his version of what faith in Christ is. that was the message. Baptists...going to hell. Catholics...going to hell. Methodists...yep, hell. and of course, non christian religions...hell.

Christians can't even decide which version of Christianity is the right one.
