Whats your prediction for year one?

As usual, we will lose to Alabama & Florida. I see a loss to West Virginia
I see three non conference wins, then we beat Vandy, Ky, USC and Missouri. Better coaching will get us four SEC wins. Won't make stupid BUTch coaching mistakes
We get a bowl game. I think winning the bowl game is very likely

The Vols went 4-8 last year with more talent, uh oh:eek:hmy:

Disagree on last yrs team being more talented and there's a huge, huge upgrade in coaching this yr. We didn't go 4-8 last yr because of talent. We went 4-8 because of coaching, injuries, turmoil among the coach's and players, very little leadership and players not fighting for their coach's. Yet Butch was still 3 plays from being 7-5. Don't know anyone that thought UK, Vandy. Mizzou and S.Carol had more talent last yr than us. Same with Flor. Nobody will argue that they had 4-8 talent either. Both are prime examples of coaching and injury issues.

We have no business losing to Flor at home, nor should be lose to a W.Va team with far, far lower rated recruiting classes. Their defense was every bit as bad as ours was last yr and they are an average at best running team. They are very 1 dimensional and it's a very good matchup for us. They will get their guards throu the air and will score, but we should be able to outscore them. Not to mention they love turning the ball over. Big Difference is we have way more higher rated players than W.Va could ever have.

I am encouraged, but far from optimistic, in light of the recent commitments. I still feel like we aimed low on this hire and never made any serious effort to reel in a big fish. I put little stock in verbal commitments, especially after 2017 early signing day. I will have to see prospects sign and show up for class before I'll consider any hay in the barn. That said, I can see some effort being made which is better than what we were getting 7-8 months ago.

If we aimed low on JP, then Ga aimed low on Kirby also. Pruitt's resume was at the very least equal and possibly more impressive than Kirby's. And Pruitt had a much better reputation than Kirby did. And it was way more impressive than Fulmer's when we hired him.Very few Coach's could have assembled the type coaching staff that JP has put together. We weren't going to have an elite early signing period last yr with JP getting hired close to signing day. He also cut a lot of those committed guys loose who didn't fit what he wanted. I fully expect our early signing period to be one of the more elite classes this yr. He still signed 12 guys during the early signing period and 5 of whom didn't committ till that day. 6 of those 12 were *4. We were considered one of the winners of the early signing period.
