They are getting paid, they are getting the education paid for, regular people have to pay for that and are just as broke, I will never eat another ramen noodle the rest of my life but that's what I could afford in college.

If you ever get a chance to eat real deal non-instant ramen, take it! Stuff is tasty AF

WTF....he didn't even get 3 meals a day at community college? What a joke. It's truly detestable that students in 2018 are taking out loans just to go to college, end up in debt for the next 30 years of their life, and live a life of poverty. Just think back that it was possible as recently as the 1960s to completely pay for tuition, room, and board on a part time income while going to an institution like YALE. Now a student taking out loans to go to Yale will easily be paying off debt that's $100,000+.

And this is all while young men like Jahmir who are going to a community college, and are supposedly having their room and board paid for, while they don't even get 3 meals a day. Higher education is truly the definition of a ponzi scheme. This is all while college administrators and professors are living the high life. And we all know about what the media rights packages are worth.

PAY THESE PLAYERS!!!!!!!$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$

How is a freaking CC supposed to pay players? Man that is dumb.

if it sounds like somebody is missing a pair of pants, it's probably more likely they are trying to go somewhere and can't start their car.

lol! So true. One of my closest friends is from Boston. Known him for years and I still don't know what he is saying half the time.

The idea of paying players is dumb anyway. They are fed, housed, and get free education along with many other experiences, joe blow, doesnt get to enjoy. And they also do get paid a stipend. How can you justify giving them more then that. They are also working their way to possibly making millions of dollars. No regular student has any of these perks. Most students get a few scholarships but dont even come close to paying the full amount of their tuition. I paid for my schooling even though i dropped out i work during my 2 year stint and had a car payment of 300/month all while working on minimum wage. Dont tell me regular students cant do it. They just chose not to and then expect it for free. Rant over. .

Hope this kid has a desire to play this year. If so he will put the needed weight on and help this team to a 7-5, 8-4 season.

I see your point. But if this is the way it's going to be, the NCAA should not be able to prevent these kids from profiting from their own likenesses.

And i understand your point but who wants richard mize jr, james christian, or malik elion ect. signatures? How is it fair to them for the "good" players to make money and them not?

Well I think that is kind of the difference between being a pro and being a college player.

You are getting paid to attend the school. Otherwise they could easily say hey we aren't going to pay for all your food, boarding, and education. Then what would those players be? Especially after their continued football development?

These schools provide more then enough to these players and if they are lucky and play well these schools obviously promote them in games, media, practice, etc. They then get looked at by pro teams and then make millions.

So why else should they get paid? All that is taken care of for them. Not to mention all of the athletic clothes and equipment.

The NCAA just made over $1 Billion of the backs of these students. Spent a little over $101 million...

A lot of profit.

When you know your value, you should use it.

I don't know where you work, but if you were bringing your company over $100 million a year and they are only paying you minimum wage, you would have a Big Problem (well if you know your worth)

  1. Roughly one in three college graduates work in jobs that do not require a college degree. 34%
Around 44% of college graduates ages 22 to 27 work in jobs that do not require a college degree
Almost half (43%) of underemployed college graduates work in jobs paying more than $45,000 a year, despite those jobs not requiring a degree

Like I tell my kids, if you're not going to college to work on Wall Street, Lawyer, Doctor, Some Science, then you are wasting time and putting yourself in debt.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that like me, the only thing that limited your ability to take a picture of yourself, sign it with your own hand, and sell it on the internet was demand. That should be the only thing limiting these kids' opportunities as well. If their ability to engage in the free market is going to be limited, they should be compensated.

I get the point about not paying the players. But if people are willing to pay a kid for his signature, the NCAA shouldn't have any say in it either.

Is it fair that Peyton Manning, Kanye West, or what's his head that plays deadpool can make money on their likenesses and autographs, but I can't? That's just life in the free market, and sometimes life's not fair. But what would be really unfair would be to prevent those guys from selling their likenesses, just because nobody want to pay for mine.

Yes, it stinks. The only reasonable remedy is to let the kids profit from their own likenesses.

My job makes a ton of money off of its workers. Pay is decent but they certainly line their pockets handsomely. These players make more than minimum wage (including paid tuition, food, housing, styfend) and dont have to worry about bills or how they will make it to the next pay check because this week wasnt a good week for income ect. How do richard mize jr, james christian, or malik elion ect. make extra money? I have no problem with what my employer makes because of me, because if i did then i can just move along and work harder to get to be where they are but I'm content where i am. Everyone wants something for nothing now days. No one wants to work for it. If you are not happy with your situation then change it. Not one person is telling these kids to play. Not one. I wanted to play college ball so my school was paid for. Not so i could make money on top of all the benefits i would have been getting.
