This year realistically 6-6 or 7-5 is what our goal should be. I just wanna see steady improvement regardless of the outcome. This team has lacked physicality the last 4 Year’s under Butch. Year 3 is when we should be expecting big things

Generally speaking, if you don’t see solid improvement in year 3, you probably never will see the results you want.

I expect UT to be an 8-4 team in four years - winning season in three. That will keep people in the seats and the money rolling into the coffers.

If that's all we're getting out of CJP & Co., then we might as well cut bait now.

This season is a big unknown. But his season #2 should be in the 8-4 to 9-3 range. It really should; the schedule is favorable for that.

And year #3, we ought to be competing for the East. I mean seriously competing. No more than two SEC losses, and only one of them to our division rivals. Year #4 and beyond, same thing. Competing for championships, year in and year out. Not winning one every year, but always in the hunt right into November.

That's the glide slope that gets us back to championships with the current coaching staff.

Agree totally,year three and beyond should be competing for the east as a given each year,winning it and the conference every so often. Just gotta believe it's gonna happen,at least I hope so.

My exact same thoughts. No more moral victories. Compete like the historical number 2 team in the SEC or go on some where. That means being in the division hunt every season. Period.

I personally believe any coach needs3 years to get his players. And put his system in place. In them first3 i need to see progress on and off the field.

During the game, if they start playing like they don't care. As long as they are in the game, I'm with them.

Loss of patience with CJP will occur at 5:15pm EDT on 9/1/18 in BOA/CLT as Heisman Trophy candidate Will Grier picks on the undermanned CB’s for a 3 TD Lead in the middle of the 3rd Qtr. He had better sweep November with a beat-up line-up...

Year 4 will be the time that CJP will be able to take on CKS at UGA, if he can bite his tongue in public in order to last that long.

We should see improvements in execution, discipline and technique by game 4 of this year. This year will tell if he and his staff can coach.

I agree.

I'm interested in seeing how UT handles the "gauntlet" this year. How will they handle it...good or bad?

I'm not going to vote, because there this warrants an emotional response. This fanbase is all over the highway on these type of questions.

I will chime in though. We've come a long way on our little roller coaster ride.

Kiffin: Wunderkind that coached an NFL team, landed here and our hopes were with the "fresh new" look. Didn't pan out.

Dooley: Son of a successful Georgia football coach, yet with no track record for winning at this level. And... I remember my Auburn Father-in-law talking about Terry Bowden when he was hired at Auburn. "If his Dad was a stellar brain surgeon, would you let his son operate on your head?". Same applies to Dooley. Didn't pan out.

Butch Jones: Started out.. "Butch Get's it" and for a while, we were all dazzled (well some of us, and VN archives show that some never bought in.. and those guys wouldn't have bought into Saban his first year either, just saying) with Butch's cliches. Brick by brick etc.. For a while, it was "at least he ain't Dooley" and he's recruiting good.
Problem is, he couldn't coach on Saturdays. Didn't pan out.

Now we have Pruitt: OK, he speaks just like every high school coach I was ever around. My old high school was the "Rebels" and my coach used to tell us we were drinking "Rebel Water" during out workouts. Simple straightforward coaching.
Right now, I'm buying what he's selling. Couple of things he's said that seem refreshing:
"We ain't gonna play music at practice because we don't play music at the games".
Also
"Wonder why there are weight classes in wrestling? Because a little guy can't win a battle against a big guy most of the time. We want big guys".

Simple "non car salesman" logic.

So how much time do we give him? Dooley inherited a dumpster fire. Jones inherited a dumpster fire, and true to form, so did Pruitt, maybe worse. I can't see it happening overnight. Never forget, Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe his first year.

I'd say the 2019 recruiting class will speak volumes on where we are headed. 2020 season should tell the tale.

I will lose patience if we play bad football. CBJ kept putting teams on the field that played stink up the room football and much of it has to be laid at his feet. 1st and goal at the 1, running sweeps or pass plays, and settling for a FG bad type football. Assigning for an entire career a play maker like Evan Berry to only touching the football on kickoff returns bad football. Keeping an OL player on the field against VT that either could not or would not move to block somebody. I could literally write a doctoral thesis on the bad football UT played under Dooley and Jones. I can deal with losing a game when we play a team that beats us. I cannot deal with a UT team that beats themselves with flat axx bad football being put on the field. That applies to game one of Pruitt's first season and will carry through to my dying day no matter who the coach is on The Hill.

Obviously I want to win every game we play, but realistically, this is most important for me this year. Please, no more bad football. I know we're gonna lose several this year, I'm prepared for it, but for the love of puppies, can the winning opposing team limp off the field saying "damn, I'm glad that's over".

I am encouraged, but far from optimistic, in light of the recent commitments. I still feel like we aimed low on this hire and never made any serious effort to reel in a big fish. I put little stock in verbal commitments, especially after 2017 early signing day. I will have to see prospects sign and show up for class before I'll consider any hay in the barn. That said, I can see some effort being made which is better than what we were getting 7-8 months ago.
