Apparently former governor Phil Bredesen is running for Senator to fill the weasel's (Bob Corkers) place.
How in the hell did any Democrat ever get elected in Tennessee?
In another thread on this, I posted that although Phil calls himself a democrat, his fiscal policy as Governor was conservative. It will be interesting to see how Trump goes about attacking Bredesen's record as Governor. If he tries to paint Phil as a typical "tax and spend" liberal, he should instantly lose credibility with any Tennessean old enough to remember Bredesen's tenure.
I don't like Blackburn but also can't imagine having a Schumer puppet representing our state
Better to have a corporate puppet than a liberal puppet? Makes sense. Lets bash a respected and proven human just because of the letter beside his name. Our republic is about to be as dumb as our citizens. Oh wait, it already is.

If Bredesen were running as an independent I would respect him, running with a Dem label I can't. How can he a guy who portrays himself as a fiscal conservative with middle of the road ideology associate himself with today's Democrats?
The party is almost polar opposite of what Bredesen claims to be.
Because it's too difficult to get elected as an independent. The two party system suppresses and delegitimizes you. He's more Democrat than Republican, so that makes the most sense. Sort of like how Trump, at least currently, is more Republican. He really should have been an independent.

You are describing a problem with the electorate.
Not really. The two major parties have enough resources to overwhelm outsiders. Makes it very difficult to be heard. If you don't think both parties actively suppress outside competition, you're naive. Better to have one known enemy than multiple. It's a corrupt system. I'm hoping that the growth of social media and internet access will allow outsiders more access without requiring the wealth of the two major parties.
Bredesen could easily run as an independent and have enough name recognition and money to be a viable candidate. The problem is then with an electorate who chooses not to vote for him because he doesnt have an R or D next to his name. Your ire against the system is misguided.
