Josh Dobbs (merged)

No. I never said he was perfect. I just said he was extremely talented and had the intangibles to continue to improve.

We are right now seeing that rapid improvement I talked about.

Prototype. Highest QB prospect you’ve ever graded. Never said he needed bigger veins. :)

Not exactly. The Patriots believed in Brady enough to move him from 3rd to 2nd string by the end of his rookie year. The Steelers' faith in Dobbs resulted in him moving to the inactive list by the end of his rookie year.

We've covered this before. You can stop bringing up this false equivalency.

Or, in 8 months you'll have a new avatar.

Maybe the guy ahead of him was just awful rather than Brady impressing anyone?

According to Rob Ryan, who was on the New England Patriots coaching staff at the time, the Patriots coaches didn't think anything of Brady's ability to be a decent QB as a rookie.

Rob Ryan was on Colin Cowherd last week saying that as a rookie, Tom Brady would throw passes to receivers against DBs in one on one's at the end of practice. The coaches would hang around and watch these and would always bet on the DBs to win. And they would almost always win. According to Rob Ryan, as a rookie, Brady was always overthrowing guys or skipping passes in the dirt. At that time nobody in the organization viewed him as anything let alone a threat to Drew Bledsoe.

According to Rob Ryan, Brady only started getting the attention of the coaches his second year when he got stronger in the off-season through added muscle as well as lighting it up during the preseason. That is when they realized they might have something. They never felt that way during his rookie season.

If you don't believe me, here's the video so you can watch the interview for yourself:

FTR, the Tom Brady talk starts at roughly the 2:50 mark.

Dobbs is following the same journey as Tom Brady.

First, they were both underappreciated in college by their own coaches and fans. Next, they were understimated by the NFL scouts and GMs in the draft. Then by their coaches as a rookies. Both spend the year after their rookie season gaining muscle mass to be stronger.

The parallels are pretty remarkable.

Next, I expect Dobbs to light it up in the preseason. Win the #2 job behind Big Ben. And then when Big Ben goes down and Dobbs gets his shot in the regular season, he lights it up and leads the Steelers to the Super Bowl starting what will be a Hall of Fame career.

Just wait on it. Its going to happen.

No. They like Dobbs just as New England liked Brady before 2001. They're just not believers that Brady/Dobbs can be the long term starter until they are proven wrong by necessity.

That's how Dobbs found his way on the field in college. For whatever reason Butch Jones was opposed to him playing until he had no choice. Same thing will happen in the NFL.

Steelers will have choice but to play Dobbs next season and he won't look back.

Expect to here a lot of "why didn't they play him sooner" talk once Dobbs starts lighting it up in the NFL like he did in college. Also expect that Mason Rudolph selection to get questioned once Dobbs emerges as a star. The Steelers will look silly on two fronts. On the one hand it'll be why didn't they play Dobbs earlier on the other it'll be why draft another QB when you had this guy.

Just remember I said all of this right. I promise it will come to fruition in about 5 months.

Mike Tomlin to Big Ben: Sorry Ben, we know you've won a couple of super bowls, a lock for the hall of fame, and threw for 28 TD's and 4,200, and show no signs of slowing down, but we are going with Dobbs this year.

Antonio Brown to Mike Tomlin after hearing this: gtfo

Except....they don't exist other than the idiotic ones you're dreaming up.

Guess what the Patriots didn't do in 2001? Use a 3rd round draft pick on a QB.

Guess what Brady did in his rookie year that Dobbs didn't do? Actually play in a regular season game.

Drew Bledsoe was much younger than Big Ben and he was not threatening to retire every off-season. He was still young and looked at as a franchise QB.

I'm sure if Bledsoe was older and threatening to retire, the Patriots would have drafted another QB in 2001.

Just listen to Rob Ryan's words. He was there with the Patriots when Brady was a rookie. And he said it himself that nobody thought he was going to do anything when he was a rookie. He was struggling mightily in the one on one's after practice with the other young players on the team.

Tom Brady made a huge improvement from Year 1 to Year 2. I expect Dobbs to do the same thing this off-season. Look for him to light it up in the preseason.

Okay. Let's say that Brady won the 2nd string job by default. I suppose Dobbs' default is having his jersey taken.

What's this supposed to mean? You claimed Brady on the 2nd string job cause he was impressing the coaches as a rookie. I posted testimony from one of the coaches that was there during Brady's rookie season and he said Brady was not very good. He was overthrowing guys or skipping passes in the dirt during the one on one's with the other young players after practice.

Just because Brady was behind a worse #2 QB than Dobbs means nothing.

The true test for Dobbs is this season. Brady took a giant leap from Year 1 to Year 2. I've maintained for months now that Dobbs will do the same. Expect him to light it up during to the preseason and win the #2 job with ease.

I've already said a million times I will. And unlike ya'll, my expectations for Dobbs are sky high. If he's not one of the best players in NFL history, I will look at it as a major miss. You guys are basically acting like he's a career backup at best. So for ya'll, you'll be impressed if he even develops into a mediocre starter in the NFL.

For me, anything short of GREATNESS is a total failure. And I will admit it if he doesn't live up to my expectations.

I just hope when Dobbs is holding up that Lombardi Trophy in February 2019 that you guys will actually give me credit rather than trying to make excuses and lies.

Keep milking that exception; it’s all you got.

Lol...you’re the king of excuses dude. Not only would I bet you money none of your predictions will come true, I would bet money that you’ll make excuses when they don’t happen; because you do it every single time.

All you did was state what body builders do to get that unnatural look BeardedVol posted in the picture above before competitions. Sure extreme vascularity is unnatural and only used by body builders in the lead to competitions.

Dobbs is obviously not getting ready for a body building competition. His shredded look is probably more natural. He has obviously added muscle mass this off-season and he must have very low body-fat naturally. That is how you get natural vascularity like he does. Once again, it goes to what I said initially.

Josh Dobbs is in PHENOMENAL SHAPE right now. I can't wait to see how he looks this pre-season. I'm guessing he'll be a lot more athletic than he was at Tennessee.

No, I actually pulled that info from a top health and nutrition website so you just proved you are clueless about this too. Have fun with that one.

Bledsoe was only 28 after the 2000 season so I'll give you that but he was also coming off of three straight mediocre to bad seasons. If you ask any Pats fan from that era, and I worked with two of them as their annoyance grew to skyscraper levels, the Pats were more than open to another QB getting the shot because Bledsoe had already peaked in their minds.

You mean we won't get these magical throws again???

Ut ohhhh ..

Mason Rudolph "made some plays" on Day 2 of Steelers rookie minicamp, coach Mike Tomlin said. Despite a few under-center fumbles on Day 1, the quarterback responded with seven straight completions in team drills, according to receiver Marcus Tucker, who likes Rudolph's "really big arm" and leadership. "Certain guys just have a command of the huddle, and I think he's one of those guys," he said.

How much you wanna bet that D4H only focuses on the fumbles?

In the short term what Rudolph does probably isn't going to matter much unless he gets caught naked juggling dildos with 14yo girls. (or whatever would get him kicked out of the league) As the fresh 3rd round pick he's nearly as ensconced as Big Ben. The only thing going into this season regarding Dobbs is getting past Jones.

Your commitment to intellectual dishonesty is impressive.

What dishonesty?

I posted a video of a guy who coached Brady as a rookie in 2000 saying he was skipping balls in the dirt and over the heads of receivers in practice. Its not me who said that. It was Rob Ryan. He's the one that said the defensive coaches would always bet on the DBs when Brady was throwing passes against them as a rookie.

I'm not the one that said Tom Brady was crappy as a rookie. It was one of his own coaches.

If anything, you are the one that is being intellectually dishonest by trying to imply he was somehow great or better than Dobbs simply because he happened to get into one game at garbage as a rookie and because the Patriots didn't draft another QB the following year because they had a young franchise QB in Drew Bledsoe rather than an old QB threatening to retire like Big Ben.

Bledsoe was only 28 after the 2000 season so I'll give you that but he was also coming off of three straight mediocre to bad seasons. They might have been open to another QB but that doesn't mean they thought it would be Brady.

Once again, listen to the Rob Ryan interview. He paints a picture of Tom Brady as a rookie which is not flattering. He's the one, not me, that says he was skipping balls in the dirt and overthrowing receivers in practice. He's the one that said the coaches would win bets after practice by always betting on the DBs when Brady was throwing.

I simply posted a link and told you what was in it. I'm not the one that made those statements. That was one of Brady's own coaches.

None. I don't care about anything that happens in shorts and a T-shirt. Guys like Rudolph who lack the athleticism of a guy like Dobbs or Lamar Jackson are supposed to look good in that environment.

They play football in pads for a reason. Its because there is a pass rush and tacking in real football.

Remember it's silliness like this that led the Buffalo Bills to bench Tyrod Taylor in favor of Nathan Peterman. And we all saw what happened when Peterman saw real NFL action. He regressed to the guy we saw play in the swamp in 2013.

Mason Rudolph is very much a similar player. He'll always look good in shorts and a T-shirt. He's just trash when real football is being played.

Mason Rudolph dwarfed the real football stats of Dobbs. I know I know...”stats don’t matter” just how resting arm veins look. :)
