Iran nuclear program. It is a lie

On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” New York Times columnist David Brooks stated that his views on President Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran deal are “very mixed” and President Obama’s argument for the deal has been disproven by time. He further stated that based on his handling of North Korea, President Trump possibly understands thuggish rulers “better than people who have higher SAT scores.”

Brooks said the president “comes from a background where basically, in the real estate business, he worked with a lot of thugs, and he cultivated a lot of thugs, and he was a little thuggish himself. But, in my view, that helps him, for all his drawbacks, understand thugs. And so North Korea, he understood that being tough with a thug produces some results. And we’ve had — we’re in a better situation with North Korea than we were otherwise.”

Brooks added that while he has “very mixed views” on whether withdrawing from the Iran deal was the right move, “President Obama, the argument he made for it, which was that Iran would moderate and become a more familiar member of the company of nations, that has turned out to be clearly false. They are the most genocidal nation on the face of the earth. They export violence and terror around the earth. And so Trump standing up to them at least has some legitimacy. It’s possible that he understands people like that better than people who have higher SAT scores.”

All true. And it is those nomads who helped "Lawrence of Arabia" destroy so much of the Ottoman railway which was a crucial loss for the Germans and the Central Powers to lose that line of wartime transportation.

If you are referring to the Berlin-Baghdad-Basra Railroad, that is an entirely different conversation that I am sure that you and I will not agree on.

The problem is that we dont. We half arse it like in Viet nam.

Israel plays for keeps. Always. They have to. They are a 146lb all muscle marine built like a pitbull with a .45 in each back pocket. They are surrounded by 250lb thugs, but with bats and knives. The Only way they survive is burning both barrels anytime someone pulls a knife. So they do. And they win. Always. Death, that's all Arabs respect. Death.

I am glad we sell them all of our 1st gen newest and best weapons. They design and build great stuff too, check out some of their rifles and tech. The day we turn our backs on Israel will be a day I hang my head in shame. There is a reason the star of David is all over our currency. They have stood by the USA always.

I also admit that i like watching them kick the sheet out of whoever is dumb enough to attack them, they still have conscripted service and some of the best special forces in the world. We could take a few lessons from them when we actually have to engage the enemy, and I am from a military family and do not want to be the world police. Let others solve their problems. But when we do choose to get involved, throw the stinking kitchen sink at them like Israel does. They dont *****foot around like we do. They drop pamphlets for a couple days telling civilians to get out, then they try to knock down every single structure standing, destroy any ability to ever attack them again, destroy infrastructure, power stations, everything. They literally try to send people back to the stone age. Why not? Punch me in the mouth and I am going to do everything I can to make sure that you can never ever do that again. Period.

I completely agree. S Korea has some crack troops - and for exactly the same reason as Israel. Being surrounded by nut jobs who want to kill you probably tends to focus your attention a lot better than ours - especially on the borders.

Right with you on on being from a military family, and both my wife and I are vets (she's retired Navy).

but Iran has 4000 years of rich history and culture in its favor.

You think the people living there now have anything in common with those 4000 years ago? They’ve been over run and subjugated too many times to count. Unlike the Jews who have kept their identity from generations to generations no matter where they lived the people of Iran could be anyone.
If we had ancient DNA from Iran I’d be willing to bet they would be closer relations to the Europeans than the modern day Iranians.

Kinda like the Egyptians.

Turns out the Egyptians of today just aren’t that close to the ancient Egyptians.

You talking about inbreeding?

You talking about inbreeding?

Nope. I’m saying the current Iranians are probably descended for North Africa where the ancient people are likely closer to European genetically.

I’m saying that claiming 4000 years of culture based on who lives there now is........well......bull****

The same can be said of most of the Israelis today vs the Israelis of Biblical times, so I'm not sure what you are driving at.

Actually it can’t.
Like the Egyptians there’s a plethora of ancient DNA so we know exactly who the ancient Jews were and who today is related.

And....
You’re claiming a 4000 year culture richness for modern day Iranians and I’m calling it Bull****.

The Jews are unique in that they kept their culture everywhere they went and brought it back with them when they returned to the land. Iranians not so much.
Claiming a rich culture for the current Iranians is like saying the current residents of Knoxville can claim the culture of all those who lived there before and not just the last 200 ish years.

Edit: the culture of the current Jews is irrelevant to debunking your 4000 year bull**** claim

Moses likely looked like the Egyptian royalty that raised him.

Great speculation. Again he provided a link supporting his claim on the Egyptians. And further provided another link to DNA evidence countering your statement. Can you provide anything to counter?

Why must you crap on the history of Iran to prop up the history of Israel?

No one needs to be playing the genetic purity game nowadays... or questioning a person's genetic identity.

You should know better than to be playing that game.

Just saying...

I provide links and sources all the time and all you all do is try to discredit the info.

BTW, what do I need to argue with him about? His claim is true that several people have been in that region. Still doesn't take away from the fact that you still have a group of people (whether blended or not) that have a history that stretches back millenia. If you chose to call them genetic mutts, that is you choice.

I'm not sure what more you want.

Ras you and I agree on the basic point. America should stay out of nation building. We should focus on our own problems.

However I can’t think of a positive thing I’ve seen you post about your nation. You come across to me as being apologetic for being born American. That’s chicken **** to me. Plain and simple. We’re not perfect by a long shot. But I don’t see a better thing going. You come across to me as thinking everybody is smarter than we are. That’s it in a nutshell.

Get the **** out of here with that ****. At most the people of Iran are arbitrarily 15% Arab rather than 5%, but to say they have more North African blood than indo European is absolutely preposterous.

Your analogy for ancient Iranians and modern Iranians is comparing current Knoxville residents to native Americans?

What in the actual ****

During the expansion of Alexander the Great we see evidence of Greek culture expanding way beyond the boundaries of the Greek state and even blending into Egyptian culture. With the Romans you see the expansion of Roman culture into England.

I can’t day that I’ve ever seen the Persian “culture” persist even into present day Iran. Honestly to me they don’t seem to have a culture predating the rise of Islam.

I’m rarely the confrontational type, at least in comparison to how I used to be, but I have to call bull**** when I see bull****, and what your saying is bull**** on bull****. Unless you have any evidence of what your saying, sit the **** down.
