Cant OV on Fridays if you have AAU that weekend...AAU goes Friday-Sunday.
Should have locked the doors on Barnes office and said it's now or never to him. Shut it down or move on.
Let me start by saying this is all second hand info and not coming from the Tennessee direction, but have talked to a couple of people this morning who are hearing that Mann had a great official visit to Florida this week and they feel that things are trending the Gators way.
We'll see if that holds or is actually the case but the feeling is that he's going to decide soon, possibly in the next week.
It's a positive that he didn't commit while on the visit and is apparently going to think things over before making a decision, so maybe the Vols can get in there and get some momentum back.
Anyway, just wanted to pass along the current scuttlebutt, and again, let me clearly identify that as 'rumor' for the moment but for those who are interested, that's the buzz I've picked up this morning.
How did the staff that landed Durant, Thompson, Turner, Ford, Aldridge, etc, lose that edge/touch/whatever you want to call it, almost overnight?
I can understand and appreciate how tough it must have been to overcome the perception of Tennessee basketball at the time they took over, but 3 years, an NCAA appearance as a 3 seed, and an SEC co-championship later, I would think those hurdles should be becoming fewer and fewer.
I realize you cant just pin a kid down in your office and hold him hostage for his signature, but man alive, we just cannot land our first or second choice recruits. Im hesitant to say we settle, per se, but we sure havent been able to land a single primary or even secondary target in any of Barnes 3 seasons. I really thought this class and this kid would be the one, and he still may be, but it sure doesnt sound good in that article.
