'19 FL PG Tre Mann

I have no problem with them missing school on a few Friday's for OVs but it sounds like this kid has missed 6 or more days the last two weeks and that isn't counting more days lost for AAu travel

Can’t OV on Friday’s if you have AAU that weekend...AAU goes Friday-Sunday.

Yep. So school finishes last to OVs and AAU. Like I said I am old fashioned and I think that's wrong.

Hope this kid isn't light on grades. I Have known kids missing school for athletic visits and such and not been able to qualify. Dumb

Lol. Taking a visit to a college campus to see if that’s where you want to go while receiving a full ride is taking away from his schoolwork?

Agreed if it's once

Most schools even give every student one excused absence for a college visit

When he is in college he will miss a lot more classes for athletics. That doesn’t mean his schoolwork suffers, he just has to make it up on his own time.

Should have locked the doors on Barnes office and said it's now or never to him. Shut it down or move on.

Who ever said that?

You seem to think the only way to get a kid to commit us to force him. It’s called recruiting. You sell the kid on what you’re doing and you get him to think Tennessee is the only place for him.

Sounds easily done in 48 hours.

Phone calls and a face to face and ziti seals the deal.

I vote he is our new recruiting coordinator since it's so easy.

Let me start by saying this is all second hand info and not coming from the Tennessee direction, but have talked to a couple of people this morning who are hearing that Mann had a great official visit to Florida this week and they feel that things are trending the Gators way.

We'll see if that holds or is actually the case but the feeling is that he's going to decide soon, possibly in the next week.

It's a positive that he didn't commit while on the visit and is apparently going to think things over before making a decision, so maybe the Vols can get in there and get some momentum back.

Anyway, just wanted to pass along the current scuttlebutt, and again, let me clearly identify that as 'rumor' for the moment but for those who are interested, that's the buzz I've picked up this morning.

But at least the kid took a visit after us so he could be sure what the right place was for him.

How did the staff that landed Durant, Thompson, Turner, Ford, Aldridge, etc, lose that edge/touch/whatever you want to call it, almost overnight?

I can understand and appreciate how tough it must have been to overcome the perception of Tennessee basketball at the time they took over, but 3 years, an NCAA appearance as a 3 seed, and an SEC co-championship later, I would think those hurdles should be becoming fewer and fewer.

I realize you can’t just pin a kid down in your office and hold him hostage for his signature, but man alive, we just cannot land our first or second choice recruits. I’m hesitant to say we “settle”, per se, but we sure haven’t been able to land a single primary or even secondary target in any of Barnes’ 3 seasons. I really thought this class and this kid would be the one, and he still may be, but it sure doesn’t sound good in that article.

^^^^

Mann is from Gainesville, so that’s a start, not exactly a shock if he chooses UF over UT...but with that said Rob was clear to say this isn’t coming from UT’s side, and that he hasn’t shut things down, so this isn’t over yet. Additionally, there are other PG’s on our target list besides Mann, you miss here but land Tandy and I’m not sure that anyone can really say we didn’t get one of our top targets.
