John Kelly to the Rams in 6th 176th overall

Like AK, great fit and great offense to be a part of... He will thrive and put up numbers there. Expect a surprising year from him for sure!

Exactly. It's a great fit. He can serve as a nice one-two punch to Todd Gurley.

I really liked the Rams draft in Day 3. They picked a number of really good players along with John Kelly that will produce for them.

I also loved their picks of LB Micah Kiser and LB Obo Okoronkwo. I had both rated as 1st-2nd round picks. The fact they got them in Day 3 is amazing.

Rams are my pick to make it to the Super Bowl from the NFC next year.

Kelly isnt on Kamara level. Nowhere near the speed or vision. Also, Gurley is the main bell cow back. In NO, AK is in the perfect situation because Ingram isnt an every down back. Gurley is. Unless Gurley gets injured, JK wont see the field very much.

Even Todd Gurley can't get every carry. John Kelly will have his chance. He just needs to make the most of it like Alvin did.

I can see John Kelly being a good #2 RB behind Todd Gurley for a couple of years and when his rookie deal is up he can go else where and be the bell cow RB ala Priest Holmes when he left the Ravens for the Chiefs after they drafted Jamal Lewis.

This makes no sense. If they have two every down backs why would you not split the time? That way they stay fresh the whole game. To suggest Gurley is just going to run the whole game when they can take some carries off of him is silly.

JK might take some carries but likely wont be significant.

He will probably be a third down back who catches passes out of the backfield and Gurley will get most of the carries.

This is the exact same thing that was said about Alvin Kamara.... Time will tell. However, knowing that Kelly usually doesn't go down on first contact I am going to say he will make a direct impact when given an opportunity. They will do exactly what the Saints did because they aren't stupid. Which should result in him getting more touches and being significant.

Hardest runner I've ever seen wear the orange. No offense VFL34. JK ran more angry and resolute than anyone. It's like he was offended by the idea of being tackled.

Not saying he's the best ever. Just hardest running. Watching him, VFL34, Garner, Thompson etc was just pure entertainment.

VFL34 shouldn’t be offended. He’s a banned poster. Travis Stephens is the wronged party in this post.

Agreed. He did the right thing. I don’t know how he’d benefit from another year risking injury that could jeopardize his stock, having to learn a whole new offense just for one season. That’s just nonsense.

Yeah, I agree he'll earn time and eventually start.

He runs angry and has great body positional awareness and skills that allow him to leverage his lowered shoulders for more yards after contact and make defenders miss.

He knows how to pick his spots and find holes.

He also has one of the best (if not THE best) stiff arms I've ever seen a running back use so effectively, so consistently.

I really enjoyed and agreed with the analyst in this film breakdown:

The Rams got a steal in the sixth. In fact, I think I absentmindedly posted it was the 5th round when I first made this thread yesterday before something told me to double-check before the editing window closed. Either that or one of the powers that be fixed it for me to spare me the embarrassment using a ninja stealth mode edit. (I didn't think he'd still be on the table after day 2.)

He still has to make the team, which he may be able to do. We will see.

No it's not. Kelly won't get anywhere near the carries/touches that Alvin got and no, they won't do what the Saints did. Gurley is a much better overall back than Ingram

If he ends up getting the carries/touches that Gurley DOESN’T get, he’ll be more than fine.

I think Kelly will do well when given opportunities. Gurley will need his share of rest and hopefully Kelly will assert himself as the back-up

He always looked like the best back on the team when AK and Hurd were there. Newly minted Rams fan.

Uhh.... When have you seen a drafted player not make the roster.... I'm waiting for this one.

4th round and higher make the Panthers at 90% or better. 6th and 7th rpund pics get cut frequently. Th at said, Kahlil will make the team and probably excel in a year or 2.

If you are drafted I'm pretty sure you are given around a 3yr contract. No matter where you are drafted at, so being cut is usually not an option. However, maybe moved to the practice squad is.

Better than Hurd, not better than Kamara....although he ran with more power ....just two completely different styles.

Only thing guaranteed with an nfl contract is the bonus money for every player other than the top 19 draft picks each year. They can sign him to a 80 year contract and cut him anytime they want without owing him a dime more than the bonus they pay him.

Well that's nice to know. Obviously I need to do more research... Jeez I'm slacking.
