Trump favorite to win Nobel prize

I think if it had to do with an award or honor he’ll be predictable lol.

If this happens and he had a big hand in it, absolutely give it to him. He’d deserve it.

Or he does the normal Trump thing and trolls the media who's anxiously waiting his victory lap by giving it a "meh" and moving on to the next item they'll scream about.

The man is a master at trolling the media and his opponents. He allows them to overreact, probably joyfully, and grins as they scamper about screeching about this or that.

Remember reading that Barry Hussein considered skipping the ceremony too.

To you or me it’s probably an important thing to win. The single most powerful person in the free world probably has many more things to consider.

When it comes to self-agrandizing, he's totally predictable.

See post above.

Or he goes way overboard with it and allows the media to continue scampering about screeching about this or that.

There is no subtle middle with Trump.

However, I am looking forward to CNN, MSNBC and others trying to de-legitimize the award (if he earns it) and the blatant hypocrisy they'll come up with in regards to Trump.

This thread is a joke right? I mean we're talking about the man who was threatening with his big button to vaporize North Korea?

Did it bring them to the peace table?

Nixon in 1972 bombed the living **** out of North Vietnam when they walked away from the peace talks. Guess what? They came right back and screamed uncle after the eleven days of getting the hell pounded out of them. The North Vietnamese knew they couldn't last much longer since the Chinese and Soviets weren't going to intercede on their behalf.

KJU threatened a nuclear strike on a US territory. Trump said "go for it, b!tch and watch what happens." KJU said "haha, jk dotard" while quickly finding a corner to cower in. China isn't backing him, Russia isn't backing him, ain't nobody in the world on his side at this point.

So, to the peace table he goes. Now, this very well could be yet another ploy to get money/aid out of other nations, but time will tell on that.

As much golf as he plays at his private resorts, spare us the 'he's much too busy with important things' excuse.

He's blowing it off because he's too thin-skinned to take the presses ribbing. He's happy to dish it out but isn't willing to take it.

He's soft.

I'm not so sure, both sides believe they are approaching from a position of strength. This isn't a surrender or concession and see no reason to believe this isn't just another DPRK tail wagging the dog.

I think KJU is on the ropes financially. I'd tighten the noose, a denuclearized peninsula would come, it'd simply be after a regime change.

I can't agree KJU thinks he's coming from a position of strength. He knows (or has been told by third party bystanders) that an attack on the US, or even a threat of attack, is a really bad idea. Hence, when the Guam situation flared up a few months ago, KJU had nobody in his corner willing to help. And quickly blinked when Trump let loose his Twitter fury. You have to remember, KJU and Dad were used to dealing with previous Administrations that wouldn't stand up to them. They'd offer concessions, we'd give in, they'd renege, we did nothing.

Very well could be the same thing this time, but...we're dealing with a whole new paradigm with China more or less taking our side in this matter, the Russians sitting it out, the EU doesn't care, the UN doing little more than talking and Trump eyeballing them while adding additional sanctions.

There have been some subtle differences this time around. Like taking the status of US Forces in South Korea off the table. It seems like a minor point, but in reality, it's freaking huge. And voluntarily shutting down the reactor. Another subtle, but huge concession.

If you want to play the "what if" game for a moment, what if KJU was warned by his advisers that the possibility of open revolt with the people was far closer than ever with the implementation of the new sanctions? And that the only way of forestalling such an event (even though he controls the ones with guns) is to at least give the appearance of trying to stop the demise of the economy? It's not far fetched to think he knows the Army could and maybe would be extremely divided in such a conflict since family ties would and could overcome loyalty to the ones in power.

Those in power want to stay in power. Or at least live the life they are accustomed to. It very well could end up he's about to lose that power and is forestalling the inevitable.

And Septic, the previous post on KJU is meant to spark discussion rather than be argumentative or supportive of Trump.

I don't understand why you wouldn't beleive that having nuclear-tipped ICBM's for the first time in history wouldn't be a considered a position of strength for them? They've worked for decades to reach this point, they've achieved it - now they want to talk.

I'm not saying it's true, just that the DPRK believes it's true. These guys work on the perception of reality, it's part of their culture. I'd wager they're looking to shakedown and extort the rest of the world as they've done in the past. Buddying up with SK and their neighbors so when things break down (and they will) they can point at the U.S. as the reason there's not a reunified peninsula. Great propaganda back home...

I realize that - I wasn't hating (this time). I think the pressure exerted by this administration is probably one of the major contributing factors of what's going on. Credit is given when credit is due.

We aren't talking an entire barn full of nukes here like we dealt with in the Cold War with the Soviets. Even during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Soviets knew they were badly outmatched in terms of nuclear parity. Which more or less prompted the whole thing. Anyway...

One successful test of an ICBM system does not a mature system make. How many tests ended up in failure? Sure, he has enough IRBMs to make Hawaii and Guam light up like a Christmas tree, but at what cost? He knows (or has been told) we have the capability to intercept them. He would take the chance on losing it all with our inevitable counterattack if he targeted US soil and wasn't successful? His "perceived" power is nothing more than an illusion. He knows (or has to have been informed) he's ronery and sadry arone in this situation.

We'll see how this plays out.

Vietnam probably not the best analogy to use... We know how that turned out. I agree with what you're saying, but a PEACE prize is not apropos.
